Position Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to support our doctors and patients through a combination of clinical, optical, and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
ResponsibilitiesClinical Support
- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining medical histories and chief complaints.
- Perform preliminary and specialized diagnostic testing.
- Accurately document patient information and maintain confidentiality.
- Assist with contact lens education and training.
- Provide exceptional patient care throughout the exam process.
Optical Support
- Assist patients with frame and lens selections.
- Educate patients on lens options and eyewear products.
- Obtain optical measurements, including PDs and segment heights.
- Support eyewear ordering, dispensing, adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Maintain frame displays and optical inventory.
- Communicate with optical laboratories regarding orders and remakes.
Administrative & Team Support
- Manage patient records, scanning, data entry, scheduling, and phone calls.
- Help maintain efficient patient flow and office workflow.
- Open and close the office according to established procedures.
- Assist with training team members as needed.
- Follow all office policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Operate and sanitize equipment properly.
Qualifications
Required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred
- Two years or more of customer service, healthcare, retail, or front-desk experience.
- Previous optical or medical office experience is helpful but not required.
No prior optometric experience is required. Training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and interruptions.
- Must be able to work one evening per week until 6:30 PM.
