Pay Range: $19–$21 per hour

Position Summary
Mercy Clinic of Fort Worth is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish), entry-level Pharmacy Technician & Patient Assistance Program Coordinator / Administrative Assistant to support pharmacy operations, patient medication assistance programs, and general administrative functions.
This position is ideal for someone who is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with patients in a community healthcare setting. The employee will assist with medication refills, patient assistance applications, medication pickups, records, inventory, and administrative support.
Essential Responsibilities
· Process medication refill requests according to clinic procedures.
· Assist Pharmacist to prepare and prepackage medications for patient pickup.
· Contact patients regarding medication availability and pickup.
· Maintain accurate medication pickup records.
· Monitor medication inventory and identify medications approaching expiration.
· Assist Pharmacist to remove and appropriately document expired medications.
· Assist with medication organization and storage.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and secure medication area.
· Assist the Pharmacy Lead with routine pharmacy-related tasks.
· Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
Patient Assistance Program (PAP) Coordinator Duties
· Assist uninsured and eligible patients with pharmaceutical patient assistance programs.
· Help patients complete patient assistance applications and required documentation.
· Collect and organize required patient documents, such as proof of income and identification.
· Communicate with pharmaceutical companies and patient assistance programs regarding applications and medication status.
· Track applications, approvals, renewals, and medication shipments.
· Contact patients when medications are available or when additional documentation is needed.
· Maintain accurate and confidential PAP records.
· Follow up on pending applications and renewals to prevent interruptions in medication access.
· Educate patients on basic program requirements and assist them in navigating the application process.
Administrative Support
· Provide general administrative support to the clinic as needed.
· Answer telephone calls and assist patients with questions or direct them to the appropriate staff member.
· Schedule or assist with patient appointments and medication pickups when needed.
· Enter and maintain accurate information in the electronic medical record and other clinic systems.
· Scan, organize, and maintain patient and program documentation.
· Assist with filing, data entry, and other office duties.
· Support clinic outreach, education, and patient-service activities as needed.
· Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, pharmacy, and volunteer staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish – required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pharmacy Technician certification
- Previous healthcare, pharmacy, patient assistance, or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately with patients.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with uninsured or underserved patients.
- Familiarity with medication names and basic pharmacy terminology.
- Experience with Athenahealth or another electronic medical record system.
- Strong follow-up and documentation skills.
- Spanish-language communication skills in both verbal and written settings.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and perform routine office and pharmacy tasks.
- Ability to lift and move boxes of medications and office supplies within reasonable limits.
