The Sr. Network Technician independently performs network analysis, design, documentation, task implementation and network maintenance in a large and diverse user environment within a broad framework of standards, policies, and procedures, utilizing current techniques and methodologies.
The role is responsible for analyzing, installing, configuring and maintaining telecommunication network equipment and infrastructure by working with users and department staff to implement network infrastructure requirements and objectives and determine feasibility of implementation projects and identify problems with existing networks.

- 5-7 years of experience in network maintenance and user technical support preferred
- A+, Network+, and/or similar industry relevant certifications in related field, highly preferred
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including: Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

- Monitors and maintains network connectivity across core and distribution network hardware to provide the highest level of availability possible for a combination of voice, video, and data services
- Utilize current monitoring software to review all alarms, log files, and operating conditions to identify potential failures
- Keep current on WAN & data center documentation
- Ensure event logs and routine backups are being taken on all major equipment items
- Verify current running configs are saved and available
- Maintain a safe, secure, and clean data center environment
- Utilize a work order process to implement new network designs and network modifications
- Create and execute on efficient operational procedures
- Provide training to end users
- Participate in discussions, and make recommendations for network hardening, redundancy, and availability
- Analyze existing or proposed network projects, verify project details, and define implementation process to be communicated with other staff members. Will likely be assigned as project lead to schedule, coordinate, and review project details
- As required, will install hardware, circuits, and cross-connects to establish services to customers and internal applications
- Maintain an advanced level of knowledge of networking and technology, staying current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Administers KPS Global’s network interface with outside network providers; coordinates network infrastructure implementation with users and Information Systems staff; works with vendors and users to identify problems in existing networks, determine and meet KPS Global’s needs, implement network infrastructure requirements and objectives and determine feasibility of network infrastructure implementation projects
- Ensures maximum network and service availability by assisting and supporting IT staff to correct service interruptions; analyzes and performs minor computer hardware repairs according to established procedures; troubleshoots and assists in solving network problems; prepares work orders and transports hardware to appropriate staff for repair
- Operates a variety of computer and peripheral equipment, including terminals, backup devices, servers, printers and scanning equipment; uses an automated network management system that utilizes SNMP and graphical object-oriented network management software
- Assist with documenting configurations and maintaining enterprise repository of systems documentation
