We are seeking a part-time growth-centric, excellence-focused Law Clerk/Legal Associate to join our team. Ideal candidates will be able to work onsite at our Texas Headquarters in Arlington.
Job Purpose
The Law Clerk/Legal Associate supports the legal team at Great American Media under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel. This is a part-time position with the possibility of extension to a full-time role upon completion of law school and successful passage of the bar exam.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the executive team with research, and analysis on governance, compliance, and regulatory developments.
- Drafts, reviews, and supports distribution, commercial, and talent agreements, as well as other contracts and legal documents, to minimize risk and protect the company's legal rights.
- Supports litigation, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings, including coordination with outside counsel; assists with corporate and organizational structure matters.
- Conducts legal research; identifies, flags, and helps mitigate legal risks.
- Assists with complex cross-functional legal matters under senior counsel supervision and performs other projects and duties as assigned.
- Builds positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and supports external communications as directed.
- Collaborates effectively as part of the legal team and contributes to a positive team environment.
- Monitors and summarizes relevant legislative and industry changes for the executive team.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a J.D. program at an ABA-accredited law school (rising 3Ls, recent graduates, and bar candidates welcome).
- Prior legal internship or clerkship experience is an asset but not required.
- Foundational knowledge of corporate, litigation, and commercial law; strong analytical, research, writing, and communication skills; and high professional ethics and discretion.
- Nice to have: media, entertainment, or other similar industry familiarity; prior business experience; and/or legal drafting experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Working Conditions
This is a part-time, remote/hybrid position working less than 30 hours per week and may require some travel.
Candidates must be available to work on a hybrid basis (in-office and remote) if extended an offer for the full-time role.
