The Opportunity
The Junior Lead – Special Testing is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and execution of testing processes for networking equipment, servers, enterprise hardware, and other specialized devices. This role combines technical expertise with team leadership by supporting testing operations, researching new testing methods, creating custom test environments, and ensuring specialized products meet quality standards before shipment.
This position serves as a key technical resource within the testing department, providing expertise on advanced testing processes and working closely with Engineering, Operations, and the Test Lead to improve testing capabilities, enhance efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The Junior Lead – Special Testing plays an important role in maintaining high-quality standards while helping the team successfully manage complex testing requirements.
What You'll Be Doing
- Research and develop testing procedures for new products, technologies, and hardware configurations.
- Design, build, and maintain testing environments, equipment, and fixtures used to validate specialized hardware.
- Create and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new and updated testing processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware, networking, and system configuration issues throughout the testing process.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to implement new testing requirements and improve existing processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance testing procedures.
- Train technicians on special testing processes and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor testing accuracy, productivity, and quality metrics to drive performance improvements.
- Ensure all testing documentation is completed accurately and recorded in company systems.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product failures and testing issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and operational throughput.
- Participate in Gemba walks, L10 meetings, and operational reviews as needed.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient testing environment.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and server technologies.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting:
- > Windows operating systems
- > BIOS/UEFI settings
- > RAID configurations
- >Network interfaces
- > Enterprise hardware systems
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
- > TCP/IP
- > DHCP
- > DNS
- > VLANs
- Switching and routing basics
- Experience developing, improving, or documenting testing processes is preferred.
- Ability to research unfamiliar hardware and independently develop effective testing solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent documentation, organization, and process management skills.
- Ability to train, mentor, and support technicians through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality testing standards.
Nice to Have
- Industry certifications such as:
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Server+
- Cisco CCNA
- Microsoft certifications (preferred but not required)
- Experience working with enterprise server platforms such as Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Lenovo ThinkSystem, or similar hardware.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V is a plus.
- Experience working in manufacturing, refurbishment, warehouse operations, or similar technical environments is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware testing, configuration, and troubleshooting is highly valued.
