About You:

A Day in the Life:
- Properly map and process specimens while ensuing proper labelling and documentation
- Perform routine histological procedures, including tissue embedding, sectioning, microtomy, staining (e.g., H&E, special stains), and cover slipping
- Efficiently organize, file, log, and able to locate all slides/blocks and dispose of outdated slides/blocks as necessary per CAP/CLIA regulations
- Performs routine inspections and audits to ensure equipment is being maintained and functioning appropriately
- Reports findings to the appropriate person or arranges for repairs, as required
- Assist with inventory management and ordering to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA and clinic standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Comply with all relevant laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA).
- Working with management in preparation for routine CLIA inspections
- Responsible for keeping record of all QC/QA charts
- Other administrative or clinical duties as requested
Requirements:
- Minimum one year of related laboratory experience as a technician, preferably in a physician practice or ambulatory environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required, with preference to secondary education
- Minimum 6 months experience working with cryostat.
- Histotechnician certification, with preference to Histotechnologist
