Full Job Description

Role Summary:

As the Production Planner, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning and coordination of daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for mouthwash and toothpaste product lines. Your role will be essential in ensuring manufacturing operations run efficiently, resources are used optimally, customer orders are fulfilled on time, and quality standards are consistently maintained.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to balance supply and demand while minimizing costs and lead times.

Key Responsibilities:Production Planning & Scheduling

Create and manage the master production schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and production capacities.
Plan and issue daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for all oral care manufacturing lines, including blending, filling, and packaging operations.
Track adherence to production schedules and adjust plans to address bottlenecks, raw material shortages, machine downtime, or changes in demand.

Material & Inventory Coordination

Ensure timely availability of raw materials, packaging materials, and semi-finished goods to meet production targets.
Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to monitor material inventory levels and avoid overstocking or stockouts.
Coordinate with formulation and R&D teams to manage materials required for new product introductions (NPIs) or pilot batches.

Capacity & Resource Optimization

Analyze and forecast resource requirements including manpower, equipment, and utilities based on planned production volumes.
Identify capacity constraints and propose solutions such as overtime, shift adjustments, or subcontracting where necessary.
Evaluate overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and line efficiency data to inform scheduling decisions.

Process & System Management

Maintain accurate planning data in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Generate and analyze planning reports such as production attainment, schedule adherence, WIP tracking, and material consumption.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy, reduce waste, and increase flexibility.

Compliance & Quality Support

Ensure all production plans align with regulatory requirements such as GMP, ISO, FDA, or other relevant standards.
Work closely with the QA/QC team to accommodate quality holds, batch releases, and validation protocols within the schedule.
Support traceability and audit readiness by maintaining proper documentation and planning records.

Cross-functional Communication

Act as the central point of contact between production and commercial teams to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
Participate in S&OP meetings and provide inputs on production feasibility, inventory risks, and capacity constraints.
Liaise with NPD teams to support the launch planning, pilot production, and scale-up of new mouthwash and toothpaste products.

Qualifications & Experience:Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Chemistry, or a related field.

Experience:

3–7 years of experience in production planning within a regulated manufacturing environment (FMCG, pharmaceutical, or personal care industry preferred).
Hands-on experience with liquid and paste product manufacturing, particularly oral care products like mouthwash and toothpaste, is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards).
Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis) and planning software.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as batch blending, tube filling, bottling, and packaging operations.

Soft Skills:

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training.
Experience with GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22716, or other quality systems.
Exposure to S&OP processes and demand planning integration.
