Full Job Description

Essential Job Functions

Receive and process specialty medication requests from internal and external referring providers.
Perform insurance benefit verifications, eligibility checks, and daily insurance reviews for infusion, Botox, and neurotoxin treatments in accordance with medical policies.
Manage the full prior authorization process, including submissions, approvals, denials, appeals, and coordination of peer-to-peer reviews with insurance companies.
Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies to communicate insurance requirements, resolve issues, and ensure timely treatment.
Coordinate procurement of specialty medications through specialty pharmacies or buy-and-bill processes; receive, log, unpack, restock, and track all medications in the EMR, Lynx inventory system, and Excel scheduling tools to ensure adequate stock for upcoming appointments.
Ensure all medications, orders, clinical documentation, test results, and required paperwork are received and complete prior to patient appointments; assist infusion staff with obtaining updated orders, notes, and clinical information as needed.
Notify and educate patients regarding insurance approvals, treatment readiness, and available copay assistance programs.
Triage daily patient phone calls and messages, respond to inquiries, or escalate concerns to appropriate staff as needed.
Communicate and collaborate with providers and staff regarding patient care, advising when drug approvals are complete and confirming all prerequisite testing has been obtained.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with quality assurance, HIPAA, infection control, safety, and customer service standards.
Represent NCNE with professionalism, compassion, and respect toward patients, families, colleagues, and external partners.
Independently problem-solve and utilize available resources to obtain patient information when patients are unable to communicate, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

Experience with prior authorization submissions and portals required
Knowledge of specialty medications (including neurotoxins or infusion medications) is a plus
Experience with electronic prior authorization submissions
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Knowledge of Excel
Organization and attention to detail is KEY
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to use discretion while handling sensitive information
Ability to work well with others
