Facilities Director
Supporting facilities & grounds for a mission-driven farm
Position Summary
The Facilities Director oversees daily care and maintenance of Saddle Up’s farm, facilities, and equipment, ensuring high quality and compliance with PATH Intl. standards. Responsibilities include coordinating repairs, managing vendors, supporting horse care, and leading volunteer projects. The role requires collaboration with staff, supervision of volunteers, and responsiveness to emergencies.
Status: Full Time / Exempt
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Supervises: Volunteer Stable hands and Farmhands, Vendors/Contractors, Volunteer Groups
Hours:
40 hours a week with a 5-day work week as standard and a 30-minute paid lunch break. Days are 5 weekdays and Saturdays, when needed, to meet program needs. Specific hours may vary based on the program schedule. Schedule may vary based on Saddle Up!’s needs, for example, to cover equine emergencies, special events, Sunday feeder shifts, volunteer training, or other needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in farm/landscaping, barn/facility management, or equivalent. Experience at an equine-assisted services program or PATH Intl. center preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a field related to equines, agriculture, farm management, project management, etc.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience supervising and training staff or volunteers.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with vendors/contractors regarding scheduling, payment, etc.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience operating small farm equipment (i.e., RTV, manure spreader, golf cart), large tractor, and tractor attachments.
- Strong management skills and experience with staff and/or volunteers.
- Strong organizational, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable and flexible for responsiveness in a busy work environment
- Self-motivated and able to manage time.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and to develop and implement budgets related to areas of responsibility.
- Commitment to positive communications, teamwork, team building, and excellent customer service.
- Experience with the daily use of Microsoft applications and Salesforce. Experience with Asana or other project management software is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring attention to detail, exceptional observation skills, and the ability to effectively multitask under pressure
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, hear, speak, twist, bend, and lift.

Duties and Responsibilities
Facility and Grounds Maintenance
- Clean and maintain barns, arenas, grounds, and buildings to maintain high quality and PATH Intl. standards.
- Perform repairs on barns, arenas, grounds, pastures, buildings, and fencing.
- Ensure cleanliness of program facility interiors and exteriors.
- Check and repair fences daily.
- Empty trash receptacles and manure spreaders as needed.
- Maintain landscaping: mowing, seeding, fertilizing, watering, and weed control.
- Ensure landscaping complies with Williamson County zoning requirements.
- Collaborate with Chief Operating Officer on vendor/contractor needs.
- Schedule and supervise contractor work.
- Manage vendor/contractor scheduling and payments.
- Coordinate pasture rotation with Equine Director and Barn Manager.
· Oversee group volunteer projects as needed.
Equipment and Vehicle Oversight
- Maintain farm-related equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
- Create and manage maintenance schedules and documentation.
- Assist with horse transportation as needed.
Equine Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with Equine Director and Barn Manager regarding horse health and any changes to equine feed plans as needed and to select quality, affordable hay and feed. The Facility Director does help coordinate hay delivery, but selection and purchase can fall to Equine Director and Barn Manager.
- Collaborate with Equine Director and Barn Manager to determine pasture assignments and changes, and assist with rotation changes.
- Collaborate with Barn Manager on equine equipment and processes as it relates to the farm and/or facilities, such as storage of feed and equipment, fly spray system, etc.
- Assist with feeding shifts as needed.
- Meeting weekly with Equine Director to prioritize farm and equine needs
- Supervising Barn Coordinator seasonally, as needed
Volunteer and Staff Engagement
- Develop and manage group volunteer projects with the Volunteer Services Director and the Executive Director.
- Collaborate with Equine Director and Barn Manager on barn team projects.
- Train farmhand volunteers.
- Provide a positive environment for staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Hire and supervise seasonal support staff
Administrative & Communication Tasks
- Maintain Salesforce records for assigned participants as it relates to instruction in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
- Respond to emails and voicemails within a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain and share work-related calendar with all on-site staff.
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
Compliance & Other Duties
- Work assigned tasks for Saddle Up! special events:
- Music Country Grand Prix
- Chukkers for Charity
- SUPER Show
- Uphold PATH International standards and Saddle Up! policies and procedures at all times.
- Ensure the safety of students, horses, volunteers, staff, and other participants.
- Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,400.00 per year
