Full Job Description

Overview

The NH Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association is a 501(c) (3) organization dedicated to providing quality education, workforce development, advocacy, ethical standards and leadership for addiction professionals in the state. As the need for qualified professionals continues to grow, so does our organization.

To support that growth, NHADACA is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our organization to operational excellence. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations, implementing innovative process improvements, and aligning internal programs and functions with initiatives that support our vision and values. The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader with a proven track record in managing operations, fostering change management, and inspiring teams to achieve ambitious goals. Duties

Operational Leadership:

Oversee operations across all departments ensuring alignment with organizational objectives including annual budgeting process and annual financial audits.
Implement, monitor, and improve operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the organization's mission.
Drive efficiency through continuous improvement of internal workflows, resource allocation, and operational planning.
Collaborate with program leads to set and monitor operational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Human Resources Management:

Lead Human Resources functions in conjunction with external support, ensuring effective recruitment, talent & performance management, and employee development.
Oversee the creation and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure organizational compliance and a positive work environment.
Foster a workplace culture that aligns with the organization’s values.
Assist with employee relations, compensation, benefits programs, and professional development initiatives.
Ensure that workforce planning and staffing strategies align with the organization’s short- and long-term goals.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

Assist in the execution of the strategic plan.
Lead organizational initiatives to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
Identify and address operational risks and develop contingency plans to ensure mission continuity.
Ensure all programs deliver measurable impact and resources are allocated effectively to maximize outcomes.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and ethical standards in its operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop risk management policies and ensure compliance with labor laws, financial regulations, and organizational policies.
Oversee health, safety, and environmental protocols to protect employees and ensure compliance with regulations.

Technology & Infrastructure:

Collaborate with IT providers to oversee technology infrastructure, ensuring the integration of systems support, operational effectiveness, and data security.
Lead digital transformation initiatives to modernize systems, improve data management, and streamline operations.
Ensure physical infrastructure is optimized for efficiency and that facilities are maintained in alignment with operational needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in senior leadership role, operations or management preferably in a nonprofit/social service environment
Experience with a full range of business functions and systems, including knowledge of finance, budgeting, information systems, and human resources
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative environment
Experience in budgeting and financial forecasting
Excellent communication skills paired with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
