As the E-Coatings Process Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes to ensure products meet established internal and external specifications, standards, and cost targets. You will ensure compliance with manufacturing drawings and product specifications to meet customer requirements.
This role includes hiring, training, and leading a team of employees while providing overall direction for day-to-day production and equipment operations across all shifts. You will be accountable for coating quality, corrosion resistance, production efficiency, and compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards. The position also drives process improvements and collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Manufacturing Operations & Process Control (45%)
Oversee all e-coating operations, ensuring production schedules, quality, and efficiency standards are met. Monitor KPIs and optimize workflow, staffing, and equipment utilization to drive productivity. Lead process control systems and partner with Quality to ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production to improve efficiency, perform time studies, update standards, and conduct root cause analysis to reduce downtime and prevent recurring issues. Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality.
Develop operating procedures, train team members, and enforce safety standards. Oversee equipment maintenance, partner on preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting process issues, and recommend upgrades to improve performance.
Leadership, Quality & Compliance (45%)
Provide daily leadership to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met. Maintain current knowledge of specifications and processes while implementing best practices to improve capacity, quality, and reliability. Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions, while collaborating across teams and using data to identify trends and solutions.
Oversee and continuously improve e-coating processes, including bath chemistry control, and partner with Quality Assurance on defect resolution. Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, 6S) and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
Drive Lean Manufacturing and 6S initiatives to improve efficiency and consistency across production. Partner with Engineering, R&D, and Product teams to support product innovation, while collaborating with Supply Chain on chemical sourcing and inventory management. Serve as the subject matter expert for coating processes during customer and internal audits.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical) or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership and/or management role, required.
- Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably metal products.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of e-coating systems, bath chemistry, and corrosion protection standards.
- Familiarity with ASTM, ISO, and other coating performance standards.
- Experience with process control systems and statistical analysis tools.
- Understanding of wastewater treatment and environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience with PLC and/or HMI systems (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing with success driving efficiency improvements (required).
- 2+ years of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 6S experience (preferred).
- Experience with ISO 9000 quality systems (preferred).
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational excellence.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
- High level of initiative, accountability, and self-management.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and engage teams while working effectively with cross-functional partners.

- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, chemicals, and industrial equipment.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May require extended hours, weekends, or off shift support as needed.

This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly work around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
This job requires <5% domestic travel.

PAY
$80,300 - $128,500
