Help Build an Education Around the Student
Location: Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Broomfield, and surrounding communities
Position Type: Part-Time; hours vary based on student and program needs
Compensation: $30–$50/hour, based on experience, subject expertise, and the student's educational needs
Homeschooling Is About More Than School at Home
Homeschooling gives students something traditional classrooms often can't: the opportunity to build an education around the learner.
But that doesn't mean homeschooling is easy.
Students still need strong academic foundations, thoughtful instruction, meaningful practice, and someone who knows when to teach, when to step back, and when to try a completely different approach.
At Dragonfly Education, we believe the goal isn't simply to keep students busy or get through a list of assignments. It's to help students understand what they're learning, become confident thinkers, and gradually take greater ownership of their education.
We're looking for knowledgeable, adaptable tutors who enjoy working with students and can bring both structure and flexibility to a homeschool environment.
If you believe education should be built around the student—not the other way around—we'd love to meet you.
What Homeschool Tutoring Looks Like at Dragonfly
Homeschooling doesn't necessarily mean sitting beside one student and providing direct instruction for every minute of the day.
A successful homeschool tutor knows how to manage learning time thoughtfully.
For example, a tutor might spend 30 minutes providing direct math instruction to one student while another student reads independently. The tutor may then check the second student's reading response, move back to the first student's math practice, introduce the next lesson, and continue moving between students as appropriate.
The goal is purposeful learning—not simply keeping everyone occupied.
Depending on the students and their needs, you may:
- Provide direct instruction in one or more academic subjects
- Work with multiple students at different grade levels
- Move between students as they work independently
- Assign and monitor meaningful independent work
- Adjust the pace and approach based on student understanding
- Help students develop organization, study skills, and independence
- Coordinate learning across multiple subjects
- Communicate progress and concerns with families and the Dragonfly team
We May Build a Homeschool Team
One of the advantages of working with Dragonfly is that one tutor does not have to be an expert in everything.
Some homeschool families may benefit from one versatile tutor who can provide instruction across several subjects.
Others may be better served by two or more tutors whose expertise complements one another.
For example, an elementary tutor might provide foundational instruction across reading, writing, and mathematics, while a second tutor provides advanced mathematics or science instruction as students progress.
We may also divide a family's schedule among tutors so that each tutor has a sustainable number of hours rather than expecting one person to provide an entire full-time school schedule.
If you're an excellent elementary educator, we're interested. If you're a middle or high school subject specialist, we're interested. And if you can do both, that's wonderful too.

Why Dragonfly Is Different
We believe successful tutoring begins with the right relationship.
The best tutor isn't always the one with the most experience—it's the one who connects with the student.
That's why we thoughtfully match tutors and students based on subject expertise, personality, communication style, learning preferences, scheduling, and educational goals.
And if a match isn't quite right?
That's okay.
Our Tutor Match Guarantee supports both students and tutors because we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed.
We also recognize that homeschooling can require a team. A family may need different tutors at different stages of their children's education, and a tutor may be an exceptional fit for one student or subject but not another.
We don't expect one tutor to be everything to every student. We look for the right combination of people to create the right educational experience.
