Position Summary
The Field Supervisor of Custom Homes manages the coordination and on-site execution of residential window, door, and house-wrap installations. Most often, this person will be overseeing the installation of high-end aluminum-clad wood window and door installations. Projects may be complex, inclusive of large window and door units, multi-panel door systems up to 10’ tall, pivot entry doors, casement, awing, and double-hung windows.
This role is responsible for managing builder relationships, scheduling and preparing jobs, and ensuring high-quality installation performance in the field. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working with builder superintendents and leading subcontractor crews on active job sites.
This is a field-driven leadership role that owns the full lifecycle of installation—from pre-construction planning through final quality inspection, service resolution, and project closeout.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Builder Coordination & Project Planning
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company and builder superintendents
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers
- Learn and manage builder schedules, timelines, and subdivision requirements
- Schedule installation dates based on jobsite readiness and builder needs
- Coordinate material deliveries to align with installation timelines
Pre-Installation & Jobsite Readiness
- Conduct pre-installation jobsite walks (minimum 2 days in advance)
- Evaluate:
Rough opening accuracy
Framing conditions – with particular assessment of door openings & proper structural components
Site accessibility and readiness
- Identify and communicate deficiencies to builders and internal teams
- Verify all issues are resolved prior to installation
- Document site conditions in project management systems
Field Execution & Crew Leadership
- Supervise subcontractor installation crews on-site
- Actively participate, coach, and inspect sub-crew installation quality onsite, during installations.
- Ensure installations meet company standards and manufacturer specifications
- Provide real-time direction, coaching, and performance feedback
- Enforce jobsite cleanliness, organization, and safety expectations
- Monitor installation progress and ensure adherence to schedule
Quality Control & Inspections
- Perform post-installation inspections (“post-walks”)
- Verify:
Installation quality
Product performance
Completion standards
- Document all findings, photos, and notes in project systems
- Coordinate and ensure completion of corrective actions
Service, Warranty, & Project Closeout Oversight
- Take ownership of each project through final completion, ensuring all installation and service items are fully resolved
- Oversee and support service activities, including self-performance of service work.
This includes window and door adjustments, glass replacement, screenings, water tests, or other warranty work as needed.
- Support Service Technicians on the job as needed.
- Diagnose and resolve field-related installation issues, including adjustments and troubleshooting
- Coordinate glass replacement and other post-installation corrective work
- Manage and track all punch list and warranty items through to closure
- Conduct final jobsite verification to ensure all work meets company quality standards prior to closeout
- Perform pre-screening and post-screening quality audits
- Proactively follow up on outstanding items to prevent delays and recurring issues
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain daily communication with:
Builder superintendents
Subcontractor crews
Internal project and operations teams
- Provide consistent updates on job status, risks, and delays
- Escalate issues impacting quality, schedule, or customer satisfaction
- Ensure all documentation and paperwork is completed within 48 hours
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 3+ years of experience in window and door installation, construction supervision, or a related field
- Strong understanding of residential construction practices and workflows
- Strong knowledge of aluminum-clad window and door products or systems
- Proven ability to manage subcontractor crews and jobsite activity
- Experience with jobsite inspections and quality control processes
- Ability to read blueprints and understand installation requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and mobile field software
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Work Environment

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
