General Description of Duties:
The Assistant Residential Director will be responsible for providing assistance to the Residential Director by working with individuals to achieve independence, productivity, and the quality of life they seek. This person will provide administrative support, maintain documentation, schedule appointments, maintain and monitor records, provide training, and ensure compliance with Unified Community Connection’s residential program.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
In a manner consistent with supporting Unified Community Connections’ Mission Statement, the Assistant Residential Director will:
- Ensure the assigned individuals safety and well-being at all times by protecting them from harm, injury, or other distress.
- Report significant changes, issues, and incidents regarding individuals or programming to the supervisor.
- Provide training and other support to individuals served by Unified which are both sufficient and the least restrictive according to their capabilities, always promoting independence while assuring individual needs for safety.
- Complete appropriate documentation related to individualized plans and program activities as required.
- Participate in the development and implementation of community-based activities.
- Have a clear understanding of each individual’s medical needs, including nursing Plan of Care and all interim assessments (if applicable), and establish protocols for emergency situations for individuals served.
- Maintain minimum of weekly documented contact with individual receiving services.
- Ensure that interim Individual Plan meetings are scheduled as necessary to meet the individuals’ needs.
- Attend Individual Plan meetings and assist with plan development.
- Schedule and accompany individual to medical appointments; make sure all required paperwork is completed by attending Health Care Professional if applicable.
- Monitor daily diary notes and goal documentation to ensure completion and services are aligned with the Individual Plan.
- Assist individuals in developing and implementing leisure and recreational activities.
- Supervise assigned staff. Complete Monthly 1:1 supervision and disciplinary action as required.
- Monitor and minimize overtime.
- Maintain communications with the Service Coordinator and other inter-agency groups as needed.
- Maintain individual’s records and purge in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Ensure Incident Reports are completed within agency guidelines.
- Ensure the numbers of service hours that are stated in the Service Funding Plan are being provided.
- Prepare and submit monthly billing to Finance.
- Be responsible for and/or assist individuals in the program with hiring and training development.
- Train new employees on the specific duties of the individual they were hired to support.
- Review staff timesheets for accuracy and submit to Payroll by the established deadline.
- Monitor staff training to ensure certifications are correct.
- Provide a written ninety (90) day and annual evaluation for each employee.
- Ensure that all MTTP regulations are adhered to by staff working with the individuals that receive medication administration support.
- Ensure all forty five (45) day nursing reviews are completed for individuals that receive nursing services.
- Comply with all Unified Community Connections policies and procedures.
- On call for staff and/or needs of the individuals in an emergency and be readily available.
- Implement objectives and policies in the Alternative Living Units as assigned by the Residential Services Director.
- Monitor household and participant records for accuracy and compliance with regulations and in accordance with the agency’s Quality Assurance plan.
- Assist House Managers to develop and access appropriate recreation and community integration activities.
- Provide support and coverage to House Managers as assigned by the Residential Director.
- Ensure that individualized outcomes and goals are implemented for residents by providing House Managers with appropriate resources.
- Successfully complete all agency-designated training within first ninety (90) days of employment.
- Serve as on call supervisor in absence of the director.
- Provide direct care supports at other agency sites or programs when required.
- Maintain knowledge of all relevant Unified policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Direct Care Staff.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities is preferred. Must have demonstrated abilities in supervision, budget management, and service delivery. Must be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas: problem solving, project/task management, time management, dependability, good judgment and safe work practices. Flexibility of scheduling to meet Agency and program needs.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED. Must be 18 years of age or older.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience and three (3) years of day care experience are preferred.
- Must have a working knowledge of relevant COMAR Regulations.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure: whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must successfully complete all agency designated training within first ninety (90) days of employment. Maintain current certification in adult CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Must attend in-service training as required. Must have valid state driver’s license with no more than two (2) points. Must complete all agency required driving training before driving or transporting individuals.
Physical Demands:
While performing the tasks of this position, the employee is required but is not limited to stand, walk, sit, bend, write, type, etc. The employee may be required to lift/transfer over 50 lbs. Must be willing to assist with participants needs, including, but not limited to feeding, dressing, toileting and hygiene assistance. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics and safe work practices while assisting with transfers of individuals of varying weight and physical needs. Work Environment:

Schedule:
Primarily Monday through Friday day shift. Must be available during on-call rotation and emergencies.
