The FRP Craftsman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and fabrication of FRP components and systems in industrial environments. This role plays a key part in the corrosion control and the structural integrity of process equipment, piping, and infrastructure in facilities such as chemical plants, refineries, and wastewater treatments plants.
Role and Responsibilities
- Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain FRP piping, tanks, ducts, vessels, and structural components.
- Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and work orders to perform accurate installations and repairs.
- Perform surface preparation, lay-up of fiberglass mats, application of resins, and curing.
- Conduct inspections of FRP systems for signs of wear, corrosion, and structural deficiencies.
- Use hand and power tools, cutting and grinding equipment, and specialized FRP tools.
- Mix and apply resins, catalysts, and hardeners in proper ratios, following technical data sheets (TDS) and safety guidelines.
- Work with other trades (welders, pipefitters, etc.) on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific requirements, including confined space entry and working at heights.
- Complete required documentation such as job hazard analyses, permits, and quality control forms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 2+ years of experience in FRP fabrication, repair, or installation in industrial settings preferred.
- Familiarity with corrosion-resistant materials, resin systems, and FRP hand lay-up and spray-up techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and safety documentation.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ASTM, ASME RTP-1, and NACE is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Safety certifications preferred (e.g., OSHA 10/30, confined space, respiratory protection, fall protection).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and manipulate objects up to 50 pounds regularly, occasionally heavier with assistance.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl, climb ladders and scaffolds, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights, on elevated platforms, scaffolding, or lifts.
- Tolerance to working in various environmental conditions including heat, cold, noise, dust, and around hazardous materials (with proper PPE).
- Must have the stamina to work long shifts, including overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays, depending on project needs.

- Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate via email, document daily work and progress, and track procurements and status
- The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
