We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused, and hands-on Front End Manager who is passionate about leadership, retail excellence, and creating exceptional guest experiences. This individual will oversee all front-of-house operations while developing a high-performing team dedicated to delivering personalized service and maintaining HyPotency's Cannabis premium brand standards.
Position Summary
The Front End Manager is responsible for leading all customer-facing operations within the dispensary, including supervising Budtenders and Shift Leads, managing daily sales floor operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining compliance with New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations, and driving retail sales performance.
This leader will partner closely with the General Manager and Inventory Manager to ensure seamless daily operations while fostering a culture centered around hospitality, education, accountability, and operational excellence. The Front End Manager will spend the majority of their time leading from the sales floor, coaching employees, supporting customers, and ensuring every guest receives an elevated cannabis retail experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development

Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop Budtenders and front-end team members.

Lead by example while promoting accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional hospitality.

Conduct ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and employee development conversations.

Create employee schedules that maximize customer service while maintaining labor efficiency.

Foster a positive workplace culture that supports employee engagement, retention, and continuous improvement.

Support succession planning by identifying and developing future leaders within the dispensary.
Front End Operations
-
Oversee all daily front-of-house operations including opening and closing procedures, customer flow, queue management, and floor coverage.

Ensure Budtenders consistently provide knowledgeable product recommendations and outstanding customer service.

Monitor sales floor activity to maintain operational efficiency and premium presentation standards.

Manage POS systems, cash handling procedures, daily reconciliations, and register accountability.

Ensure all operational procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed.

Partner with the General Manager to continuously improve front-end operational processes.
Customer Experience

Deliver an elevated guest experience that reflects HyPotency's Cannabis luxury retail brand.

Lead the team in providing personalized customer education and product guidance.

Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally while maintaining positive customer relationships.

Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to increase guest satisfaction and loyalty.

Ensure every customer interaction demonstrates professionalism, hospitality, and compliance.
Sales Performance

Drive daily sales performance through coaching, product education, and customer engagement.

Motivate the team to achieve sales goals while maintaining an educational, customer-first approach.

Promote loyalty program enrollment and maximize customer retention initiatives.

Support merchandising strategies that increase product visibility and average transaction value.

Analyze daily sales performance and identify coaching opportunities to improve results.
Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure all customer transactions comply with New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations and company policies.

Verify proper customer identification and age verification procedures.
-
Maintain compliance with cash handling, security, and operational procedures.

Ensure all employees maintain active New York Marijuana Employee Identification Cards and required certifications.

Assist with compliance audits, inspections, and documentation as directed by the General Manager.

Immediately report and document compliance concerns, operational issues, or policy violations.
Merchandising & Store Presentation

Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor.

Ensure merchandising displays, promotional signage, and product presentations align with HyPotency Cannabis brand standards.

Coordinate product launches, vendor demonstrations, and promotional events with the General Manager.

Work closely with the Inventory Manager to ensure product availability and proper merchandising.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with the General Manager to execute operational initiatives and improve store performance.

Communicate inventory needs, customer feedback, and operational concerns to leadership.

Collaborate with the Inventory Manager to maintain adequate product availability and efficient replenishment.

Support company initiatives that enhance operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of retail leadership or management experience.

Proven experience leading customer-facing teams in a high-volume retail environment.

Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience with POS systems, cash management, and retail technology.

Ability to manage employee schedules, labor priorities, and daily operations.

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must meet all eligibility requirements to work within the New York State cannabis industry.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous cannabis dispensary leadership experience.

Working knowledge of New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations.

Luxury retail, hospitality, or premium customer service leadership experience.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the dispensary during scheduled shifts.
