Full Job Description

Join a dedicated team committed to maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities. As a Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our buildings are well-maintained and ready for daily operations and special events. This position offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive environment for staff and visitors alike.

Responsibilities

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents or acids according to safety specifications.
Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors using appropriate equipment and procedures.
Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical appliances to prevent hazards.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
Notify supervisors of the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Request supplies and equipment necessary for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Experience with cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety practices preferred.
Ability to use various power and hand tools efficiently.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Adaptability to changing tasks and priorities.
Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, walk long distances, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Manual dexterity and vision abilities including close, distance, and depth perception.

Offered compensation: $18/yr
