About TibaRay
TibaRay is developing the Galactica™ linear accelerator platform to bring FLASH radiotherapy—cancer treatment delivered in a fraction of a second—to patients worldwide, with applications across healthcare, non-destructive testing, and security imaging. Brazing and vacuum integrity sit at the heart of that technology, and we’re looking for an experienced technician to help us build the vacuum-tight hardware that moves our mission forward.
The Role
We’re hiring an experienced Brazing & Vacuum Technician to own the furnace brazing and vacuum-leak integrity of our vacuum-tight assemblies. You’ll plan and run multi-pass braze schedules, prove out vacuum integrity, and drive the clean, prep, braze, and leak-check loop that paces production. This is a hands-on role in a high-mix, low-volume environment where brazing is the pacing skill on the floor and your judgment sets the standard for braze quality.
What You Bring
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years setting up and operating hydrogen and/or inert-gas brazing furnaces in a production environment.
Able to produce clean, vacuum-tight, repeatable brazed joints across a range of metals.
Strong command of high / ultra-high vacuum practice and helium leak detection, including isolating leak paths and judging pass/fail.
Able to plan and run multi-pass, stepped braze schedules at descending melt temperatures, batching parts accordingly.
Comfortable setting up braze fixturing and using hand tools for part fit-up (our machine shop builds the fixtures).
Strong ability to read mechanical drawings, including revisions, GD&T, tolerances, and symbols.
Disciplined documentation habits — comfortable recording fixture setups, oven recipes, and process travelers, and logging equipment and compressed-gas usage as consumables deplete.
Clear communication, a strong desire to learn, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience in accelerator, RF, vacuum-tube, or vacuum-electronics manufacturing.
Experience brazing ceramic-to-metal and other dissimilar-metal joints.
Furnace atmosphere controls and profiling, RGA analysis, or bake-out experience.
AWS brazing certification, NADCAP familiarity, or formal braze-procedure development.
Patch-braze and rework experience recovering parts without full restarts.
Quality-control (QC) or inspection experience and good inspection habits.
Experience safely handling compressed gases.
Experience working in cleanrooms or controlled-cleanliness environments (we plan to add a cleanroom).
Welding experience such as laser welding — helpful if we bring joining processes in-house.
Familiarity with a quality management system such as ISO 9001.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate hydrogen and inert-gas brazing furnaces (nitrogen, argon, or hydrogen atmospheres), planning multi-pass braze schedules and batching parts by melt temperature.
- Braze ceramic-to-metal and dissimilar-metal joints to vacuum-tight, repeatable results.
- Perform helium leak detection on brazed assemblies, isolate leak paths, and execute patch-braze repairs as needed.
- Fixture and prep parts for brazing — place alloy preforms and manage plating considerations.
- Coordinate outside cleaning cycles and prep so parts are ready when the oven is, keeping the cleaning-lead-time bottleneck moving.
- Perform bake-out (outgassing) of finished assemblies in the nitrogen bake-out furnace.
- Document fixture setups, oven recipes, braze travelers, and process records; log equipment and compressed-gas usage; and drive braze-yield and cycle-time improvements.
- Partner with engineering and the machine shop on design-for-braze (joint gaps, fit-up, materials).

- Have basic knowledge or experience using various hand tools, such as: Calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges, etc.
- Ability to work with the following chemical agents (with proper PPE): Acetone,and Isopropyl Alcohol
- Alloy application
- Perform dry lay up assembly
- General housekeeping
- Disciplined in following safety protocols
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- On-site role in an active shop with hydrogen and inert-gas brazing furnaces plus a nitrogen bake-out furnace; PPE required and provided where appropriate.
- Comfort working around high-temperature and hydrogen-atmosphere furnace operations, inert-gas handling, and vacuum leak-test equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Our shop is generally open 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, and a typical shift is 8 hours within those hours. Start and end times flex when a furnace run requires it — occasionally starting later and running past 6:00 PM — with overtime as needed. No on-call expectations.
