General Purpose
The PowerSchool Senior Technician will assist NC RESA and constituent district’s using PowerSchool. Working under the direction of the SIS Coordinator, the PowerSchool Senio Technician assists with state and federal reporting, data quality monitoring, enrollment and scheduling processes, training, and day-to-day end-user support, and serves as an approachable first point of contact for district and building staff. This position works closely with district staff, school leaders, and school staff to ensure timely, accurate, and effective use of the student information system.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Associate’s degree or experience in Information Technology is preferred.
· Experience working in a K-12 educational environment is preferred.
· Experience with PowerSchool SIS is preferred.
· Experience working with various data systems.
· Experience with current technology and data management best practices.
· Solid organizational and planning skills
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Able to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency vision and goals.
· Able to demonstrate confidentiality in all matters.
· Positive leadership skills.
· Must complete and pass required criminal history check.
Essential Duties (shall include, but are not limited to the following):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Provide day-to-day PowerSchool support to assigned districts under the direction of the SIS Coordinator, serving as an approachable first point of contact for district and building staff.
· Respond to end-user questions from registrars, secretaries, counselors, teachers, and administrators with timely troubleshooting, coaching, and customer service; escalate complex, technical, or policy questions to the SIS Coordinator.
· Log, monitor, and document SIS support tickets and calls using the IT ticketing system, working from priorities established by the SIS Coordinator.
· Assist with state and federal reporting cycles, including MSDS, TSDL, and CRDC, by gathering, validating, and reconciling data in advance of submission windows and tracking missing requirements to closure. Certification and final submission remain with district and RESA leads.
· Assist with maintaining student information data integrity by running scheduled validation and error reports, including Level Data, routing findings to the responsible building staff, and confirming that corrections are completed in the SIS.
· Assist with student registration and enrollment processes, including returning student forms and kindergarten roundup, and support the transition of paper processes to electronic forms.
· Assist with recurring calendar-driven processes such as beginning- and end-of-year setup, calendar builds, stored grade processes, and elementary and secondary scheduling questions.
· Assist with data accuracy that supports family and community communication, including student and contact address, telephone, and demographic information, and the rostering that feeds approved third-party platforms.
· Deliver short refreshers, quick-reference documentation, and individual guidance for building staff in coordination with the RESA training calendar.
· Assist in the documentation of SIS protocols, procedures, and systems to provide step-by-step guidance to all users that ensure consistent and accurate district-wide practices.
· Collaborate with district data reporting teams and the RESA Data Coordinator to support the accuracy of regulatory reporting collections and district accountability reporting.
· Participate in local and state SIS user groups and attend professional development to stay current on products and developments of the district’s SIS and learning platforms.
· Assist with processing requests for information and maintaining confidentiality by adhering to state/federal laws.
· Complete job-related duties during off-peak hours as needed.
· Maintain accurate records and the integrity of confidential information.
· Predictable/reliable attendance.
Other Duties
· Act as a resource, if needed, to employees, students and the general public and visitors to the NC RESA.
· Possess knowledge of NC RESA’s organization, mission, and philosophy.
· Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the Director of Technology Services & Security.
