Full Job Description

Job Purpose:

MEC, an innovative leader in the Aerial Work Platform Manufacturing Industry, is seeking a forward-thinking Design Engineer to join the Engineering team in Kerman, CA. This role is ideal for a Mechanical Engineer with strong electrical and electronic knowledge who thrives on developing new ideas, concept designs, and prototypes. The engineer will focus on integrating advanced systems—including hydraulics, electronics, and telematics—into complex machinery. With opportunities to explore interactive electronic devices, remote software updates, and new platform options, this position offers the chance to shape the future of MEC products through innovation and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

· Create and develop new concept designs and functional prototypes.

· Design and review mechanical and electro-mechanical systems using CAD (SolidWorks preferred).

· Develop and interpret circuit diagrams for electrical and electronic systems.

· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues impacting system performance.

· Integrate telematics and connected devices into machine platforms, enabling remote software updates and interactive functionality.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify design problems and implement practical solutions.

· Support testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities for new and existing products.

· Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative applications for future equipment.

· Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and reports as needed.

Skills Required for This Position:

· Strong mechanical engineering foundation with experience in electrical/electronic systems.

· Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

· Ability to create and interpret circuit diagrams.

· Experience with concept design, prototyping, and product development.

· Familiarity with telematics systems, remote update platforms, and interactive electronic devices.

· Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical domains.

· Creative, analytical, and capable of generating new ideas.

· Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in equipment design within industries such as agriculture, construction, or engines/transmissions.

· Demonstrated ability to integrate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic systems.

· Competency in Microsoft Office programs required.

· Valid passport or ability to obtain one (occasional travel may be required).

Physical Requirements: This position may require light physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs. Must be able to participate in hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting as needed.

Compensation: $90,000 to $100,000.00 annually, DOE.
