Full Job Description

Riverpark Pet Hospital ( www.riverparkvet.com ) is a modern, full service veterinary hospital in North Fresno area and is proudly serving Fresno, Clovis, Madera and surrounding communities. We are looking for a highly motivated RVT who is happy being part of our great and enthusiastic team, will bring positive energy and skill set to the workplace and is seeking to grow with us as we move forward in our journey of providing excellent patient care and state of the art veterinary services to our patients. We pride ourselves in our philosophy of bringing work-life balance, a very healthy working environment and team culture and excellent training and growth opportunities for our staff.

Duties:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples for analysis

- Ability to train veterinary assistants

- Handling controlled drugs appropriately and familiarity with documentation like CURES, maintaining controlled drug logs, following DEA compliance

- Perform radiography with proper positioning and handling techniques
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as bloodwork and urinalysis
- Monitor vital signs of animal patients during procedures and recovery
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information
- Provide post-operative care and monitor patients' recovery progress
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain a clean working environment

- Engage in proper direct/indirect client communication

- Ability to occasionally work at the front desk including handling phone systems, rooming clients and patients, scheduling appointment, closing and matching books at the end of the day.

Skills:

- Licensed to perform work as a RVT in State of California
- Proficient in veterinary terminology and procedures
- Strong knowledge of animal handling techniques
- Familiarity with aseptic technique in surgical settings

- Ability to monitor anesthesia and recover patients
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and the veterinary team
