General Accounting Specialist

Location

This role will primarily office out of our centralized business office in Plano, with occasional on-site work at our dealerships.

Role

The General Accounting Specialist supports the financial operations of the dealership by maintaining accurate accounting records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards. This role works closely with the Controller and department managers to ensure timely reporting and efficient handling of dealership financial activities.

Key Responsibilities

Process and post daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Maintain accurate records for vehicle inventory, including new and used vehicle purchases, sales, and transfers.
Assist with monthend and yearend closing processes.
Monitor and reconcile schedules such as prepaid expenses, accruals, and intercompany accounts.
Process payroll entries and assist with payroll reconciliation (if applicable)
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with sales, service, and parts departments to ensure proper financial tracking.

Qualifications

2+ years of accounting experience; dealership or automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
Familiarity with dealership management systems (e.g., Tekion, CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds) is a plus.
Strong understanding of automotive dealership accounting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organizational and timemanagement skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.
