Full Job Description

Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Defense Systems

McKinney, TX | $200,000–$300,000 | Full-Time | On-Site | Relocation Assistance Available

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the development and integration of complex, mission-critical defense systems. This is a hands-on senior engineering position for an accomplished engineer with deep embedded software expertise who can contribute to system architecture, software design, coding, integration, and testing.

The preferred work location is McKinney, Texas. This position requires work on-site at a secure facility and is not a remote opportunity.

Compensation: $200,000–$300,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates, allowing us to consider cleared engineering talent from across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for complex defense and mission-critical systems.
Develop high-quality software using C and C++ in embedded and real-time environments.
Contribute to software and system architecture decisions for new and existing systems.
Translate system-level requirements and architecture into executable software development tasks.
Perform software/hardware integration, troubleshooting, debugging, and testing.
Participate in design reviews, architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical planning.
Work collaboratively with systems, software, hardware, test, and other engineering disciplines.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other software engineers.
Contribute as a senior individual engineer on complex weapons and defense programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
15+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
Strong hands-on experience developing embedded software using C and/or C++.
Experience with real-time and/or embedded systems.
Experience with software architecture, design, development, integration, debugging, and testing.
Experience working with complex hardware/software systems.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret clearance or higher is required.
Must be able to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.
Must be willing and able to work on-site at a secure facility.

Highly Desired Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:

Defense, aerospace, military, or weapons systems
Mission systems or mission-critical software
Embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments
VxWorks or similar real-time operating systems
Avionics, flight software, guidance, navigation, or control systems
Hardware/software integration and system-level testing
DoD software development programs
Complex system architecture and integration
