Job Overview
FabGennix International is seeking a part-time IACUC Veterinary Consultant to provide veterinary oversight and guidance for our research animal facility.
This position is ideal for a practicing veterinarian or laboratory animal professional looking for a flexible consulting opportunity with a minimal time commitment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct 1–2 scheduled on-site facility inspections annually (typically about one hour each)
- Serve as the consulting veterinarian for IACUC-related activities
- Review and provide input on standard animal use protocols as needed
- Provide guidance on animal health, welfare, husbandry, and treatment recommendations
- Advise facility staff regarding appropriate veterinary care and when referral to the local attending veterinarian is recommended
- Be available for occasional phone or email consultation throughout the year
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD)
- Active veterinary license in good standing (Texas preferred or ability to consult in Texas)
- Experience with laboratory animal medicine, IACUC, research oversight, or animal welfare regulations preferred
- Familiarity with USDA Animal Welfare Act, OLAW, and/or AAALAC standards is a plus
Schedule
- Approximately 1–2 on-site visits per year
- Occasional remote consultation throughout the year
- Flexible scheduling
Compensation
Compensation is provided on a consulting basis and will be discussed with qualified candidates.
