Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with varying needs, including those in group homes and long-term care settings. Your primary focus will be to enhance the quality of life for our clients by assisting them with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Duties

Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
Support individuals in daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication management, and transportation.
Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors.
Engage clients in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and inclusion.
Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any incidents that may occur.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Provide first aid as needed and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Lift and assist clients as required while adhering to proper lifting techniques to ensure safety for both the client and yourself.

Qualifications

Experience in direct support roles within a retirement home or group home setting is preferred.
Knowledge of dementia care practices is a plus.
Familiarity with systems related to social work or long-term care is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
Ability to manage challenging behaviors effectively while maintaining a calm demeanor.
Certification in first aid is desirable.
Must be able to lift clients safely as needed and perform physical tasks associated with caregiving duties.
