Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Insurance Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage the entire billing process for medical services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance providers. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle management, improve patient satisfaction, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate is passionate about healthcare administration, possesses strong technical skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where precision and customer service are paramount.

Duties

Prepare and submit insurance claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Review medical records, coding, and documentation to verify the correct application of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for billing purposes
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and escalate issues as needed
Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim statuses, and patient accounts in compliance with healthcare regulations
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies to facilitate accurate reimbursements
Stay updated on changes in health insurance policies, coding standards, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing and insurance coverage promptly and professionally

Skills

Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications
Proficiency with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting
Experience with healthcare claims management processes from submission to reimbursement
Excellent understanding of health insurance policies, medical records management, and medical terminology
Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for billing purposes
Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
