Lili's Alterations is looking for a skilled Tailor. You'll handle the hands-on work our clients count on — from everyday hems and fittings to specialty pieces like bridal gowns, drapery, and leather. If you take pride in precise, high-quality work and want your pay to reflect how much you produce, we'd like to meet you.
Pay — Commission Only, No Ceiling
This position is paid entirely on commission — your earnings are tied directly to the work you complete. There is no cap. Our tailors typically earn $1,200–$2,200 per week. Actual earnings depend on your speed, skill, and the hours you choose to work.
Schedule
Flexible. Most of our tailors work 3 to 6 days per week, with shifts between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. We build the schedule around your availability.
What You'll Do
- Alterations: hem pants, skirts and dresses; take in and let out seams; shorten sleeves; adjust waistbands; replace zippers; repair damaged garments
- Specialty sewing: bridal gowns and formalwear, suits, curtains and drapery, pillows and home décor, leatherwork, crochet and knitwear repair
- Customer fittings: pin and measure on the client, explain what can and can't be done
- Press and inspect every completed order before it goes back on the rack
- Work from order tickets to hit turnaround deadlines and keep your station organized
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of professional sewing or alterations experience
- Comfortable on an industrial sewing machine, serger/overlock, and blind hem machine, plus quality hand-stitching
- Able to read and follow order tickets and measurements accurately
- Strong eye for detail and a commitment to getting it right the first time
- Comfortable measuring and pinning directly on clients
- Dependable, punctual, and organized
- Specialty experience (bridal, formalwear, home goods, leather) is a strong plus
Why Work Here
- Steady, year-round volume from an established, loyal client base
- No cap on earnings — the more you produce, the more you make
- Flexible days built around your availability
- Generous employee discount on all alteration services
- A friendly, supportive team
Physical Requirements
The following are essential functions of this role, which can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation: extended periods of seated detail work (up to 8 hours per shift), close vision and hand dexterity for fine stitching, handling heavier materials such as leather and full-length drapery, and standing, kneeling, and bending during fittings.
To Apply
Reply with a short note about your sewing experience — the types of garments and specialty work you've handled most. A resume is welcome but not required.
