We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and production equipment within our recycling operation.

What You'll Do
Equipment Maintenance & Repairs
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and processing equipment.
- Repair or replace damaged, worn, or malfunctioning components.
- Reassemble equipment following inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Operate repaired equipment to verify proper performance and functionality.
- Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication, inspections, and routine servicing.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Use diagnostic equipment and testing tools to identify mechanical problems.
- Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Test machinery and equipment after repairs to ensure compliance with performance standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
Operational Support
- Assist maintenance and production teams with equipment-related issues.
- Support operations throughout the facility as needed.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Help maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
- Report safety concerns, equipment deficiencies, and operational issues promptly.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience assisting with or performing maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, industrial machinery, or related equipment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and repair documentation.
Alternative Qualification
- Associate Degree in Heavy Duty Truck Repair, Heavy Equipment Repair, Diesel Technology, or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience.
Preferred
- Experience in recycling, manufacturing, industrial processing, mining, construction, or similar heavy equipment environments.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, conveyors, shredders, balers, or industrial processing equipment.
Work Environment
This position works in an active industrial recycling facility and may involve:
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, dust, noise, dirt, and fumes
- Working around active production operations
- Occasional overtime, weekend, and holiday work based on operational needs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours per shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, climb, push, and pull as required.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and machinery.
