Vocational School Director

Reports To: President

Position Summary

The Vocational School Director serves as the executive leader responsible for the day-to-day operations, academic excellence, regulatory compliance, student success, and business growth of the institution. Working directly with the President, the Director develops and executes strategies that increase enrollment, improve student outcomes, strengthen operational efficiency, expand educational programs, and drive sustainable financial growth.

The Director is expected to lead with an entrepreneurial mindset, ensuring the school remains fully compliant while aggressively pursuing opportunities to double enrollment, increase revenue, strengthen profitability, and enhance the institution's reputation.

Mission

To work alongside the President in building one of the leading vocational schools in the nation by delivering exceptional education, outstanding student outcomes, operational excellence, and sustainable business growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership

Partner with the President to develop and execute the school's long-term strategic growth plan.
Identify new educational programs, markets, partnerships, and revenue opportunities.
Lead initiatives that support the goal of doubling enrollment, revenue, and overall institutional growth.
Develop annual operational plans aligned with institutional objectives.

Business Development

Drive student enrollment growth through admissions, marketing, community outreach, and employer partnerships.
Develop relationships with employers, workforce agencies, government organizations, healthcare providers, and industry partners.
Identify grant, funding, and workforce development opportunities.
Support expansion into new campuses, locations, and educational programs.

Financial Management

Develop and manage departmental budgets.
Monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, and financial performance.
Improve operational efficiency while maintaining educational quality.
Recommend strategies that maximize institutional revenue and long-term financial sustainability.

Academic Operations

Oversee all academic programs and instructional quality.
Ensure curriculum remains current, industry-relevant, and compliant.
Monitor student attendance, retention, graduation, and placement outcomes.
Support continuous curriculum improvement and instructional innovation.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting agency requirements.
Maintain compliance with SCHEV, DPOR, COE, U.S. Department of Education, VA SAA, Title IV, and other regulatory agencies.
Prepare for audits, accreditation visits, and regulatory reviews.
Maintain accurate institutional records and documentation.

Leadership & Staff Management

Recruit, train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate faculty and administrative staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Conduct regular leadership meetings and performance evaluations.
Establish measurable performance goals for all departments.

Student Success

Promote an exceptional student experience from enrollment through graduation.
Improve student retention, academic achievement, certification/licensure success, and job placement.
Resolve student concerns promptly and professionally.
Ensure high standards of customer service throughout the institution.

Operational Excellence

Oversee daily campus operations.
Improve institutional policies, procedures, and workflows.
Implement technology solutions that enhance efficiency and student services.
Monitor institutional performance through key performance indicators (KPIs).

Marketing & Enrollment Growth

Collaborate with admissions and marketing teams to increase enrollment.
Evaluate marketing performance and return on investment.
Strengthen the school's brand, online presence, and community reputation.
Support digital marketing, social media, employer outreach, and referral initiatives.

Data & Performance Management

Analyze enrollment trends, retention, graduation, placement, and financial metrics.
Present monthly operational and financial reports to the President.
Develop action plans based on institutional performance data.
Use data-driven decision-making to improve results.

Quality Assurance

Promote continuous improvement across all departments.
Ensure consistent educational quality and institutional effectiveness.
Monitor student satisfaction and employer feedback.
Implement corrective actions when necessary.
