Job Summary
The Wealth Management and Trust Wealth Advisor role manages client relationships and delivers high-quality fiduciary services. The Advisor assumes primary responsibility for overall client satisfaction as the relationship manager by collaborating with the service team and appropriate resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality fiduciary service, issue resolution, effective communication of client needs to partner, and development of advisory relationship with client.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Related to Account Administration:
- Manages assigned account base of wealth management clients by working with clients and their professional advisors to develop a thorough understanding of the client’s needs and goals.
- Exhibits working knowledge of governing documents and account agreements.
- Exhibits knowledge of fiduciary duties and applicable laws, including trust and tax law, estate planning techniques, financial planning, asset management, and prudent investment principles.
- Seek continued development of fiduciary and advisory skills through training and experience.
- Guides client conversations for purpose driven wealth management.
- Provides proactive advice to clients on products/services, emerging issues, regulatory/tax changes, and appropriate actions for the client.
- Combines technical knowledge with fact finding and analysis to develop advice-driven solutions for clients.
- Explains complicated concepts to clients in a thoughtful way using non-technical terminology.
- Maintains current in-depth knowledge of a full range of trust-oriented services (e.g., personal trusts, living trusts, wills, investment management, custody, financial consulting, estate, and tax planning).
- Focused client service with responsiveness, diplomacy, and tact; proactive client contact through written and verbal communication with suitable frequency. Exhibits excellent time management skills.
- Builds and maintains knowledge of fiduciary standards and practices, applies fiduciary knowledge and judgment to fiduciary relationships. Understands and complies with internal policies, processes, and procedures to affect prudent risk management and judgment. Recognizes fiduciary risk issues and seeks appropriate resolution.
Related to New Business Development: While not the primary focus, the Wealth Advisor will participate in our wealth management efforts for new client development. The Advisor will aid in cultivating new relationships with individuals, families, and other entities. The Advisor identifies prospects, presents capabilities in presentations, and follows through to convert prospects to clients.
- Cultivates external and internal professional and personal networks to identify and develop prospective new client relationships as well as existing client relationships.
- Profiles prospect’s financial picture and possible needs to determine how to best provide service.
- Presents bank capabilities and services to prospective clients and/or designated liaisons (e.g., attorney, CPA, etc.).
- Consults with clients and their attorneys on the benefits of estate planning capabilities/services.
- Analyzes property/assets and develops alternatives (e.g., creation of living or insurance trusts).
- Consults with clients and their attorneys to determine appropriate plans for estate taxes utilizing knowledge of inheritance, gift, income, and estate taxes.
- Initiates and follows through on any request for loan, checking, or savings account services by contacting banking partners as appropriate.
- Maintains periodic contact with clients and acts as a liaison between clients and the rest of the firm for various activities (e.g., setting up accounts, facilitating transactions).
- Deepens existing relationships by working with integrated teams.
Related to Other Duties:
- Work closely with MNB WM&T employees externally, with the OCC and other regulators;
- Internally with audit, risk management, HR, and finance.
- Assist MNB WM&T Director with reporting of budget, variance reports, and other reviews/summaries to board, execs, owners, employees;
- Assist Senior Fiduciary Officer in management of expense reports in MNB WM&T to ensure adherence to budget;
- Participate in marketing in organizing events hosted by MNB WM&T;
- Serve on Trust committee as assigned and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. and/or other certifications preferred.
- 2-3 plus years’ experience as a relationship manager in trust administration, estate administration, estate planning, or related fields.
Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge of fiduciary and financial products and services, usually acquired through related work experience, is required to manage client accounts. Technical knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operations usually acquired through formal education or related experience is required to service clients. Knowledge of fiduciary standards, principles, and applicable laws and regulations usually acquired through training, seminars, or law school is required to administer accounts. Skills in negotiating, problem solving, delegating, leadership, and sales are necessary to service the client relationships. Leadership and organizations and analytical skills are required to work collaboratively with the Director of WM&T and other divisional colleagues to meet and exceed Division goals. Verbal and written communication skills that require a professional and courteous manner when dealing with all types of clients, prospective clients, professionals, and committees is required. Wealth Advisor must also work well with customers and staff, be very detail oriented and be a self-starter.
