Position Summary
Tex-Ok-Kan Oilfield Services is seeking a dependable Yard & Loadout Equipment Operator to assist with the handling, storage, and shipment of finished products, including tanks, vessels, and platform components.
This position operates forklifts and mobile or rough-terrain cranes to unload finished products, place them in designated storage areas, and load them onto trailers for shipment. The employee will also help maintain an organized yard, verify outgoing loads, and perform minor equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.
The ideal candidate works safely, pays attention to detail, takes care of equipment, and is willing and able to learn.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely unload finished tanks, vessels, platform components, and other fabricated products.
- Move and place finished products in designated yard storage areas.
- Load finished products onto trailers using forklifts, mobile cranes, or rough-terrain cranes.
- Select and use appropriate rigging and lifting practices for each load.
- Review load lists and verify that the correct products and components are loaded.
- Inspect finished products for visible damage before loading or unloading.
- Maintain an orderly, clean, and accessible storage yard.
- Assist with securing, blocking, or positioning products for transportation.
- Check fluid levels and perform minor preventive maintenance on forklifts, cranes, and other yard equipment.
- Identify equipment concerns and report needed repairs.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments within the employee's training and ability.
- Follow company safety policies, lifting procedures, and equipment operating requirements.
- Communicate with shipping personnel, drivers, supervisors, and production employees.
- Perform other related yard, shipping, and material-handling duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- One to three years of relevant experience in equipment operation, material handling, shipping, loadout, construction, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience operating a forklift is preferred.
- Experience operating a mobile crane or rough-terrain crane is preferred.
- Ability to read and verify load lists, product identification, and shipping information.
- Basic mechanical ability and familiarity with routine equipment inspections.
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work productively with limited supervision.
- Willingness and ability to learn new equipment, procedures, and responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and truck drivers.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to climb into and out of forklifts, cranes, and other equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around large fabricated products, moving vehicles, suspended loads, and heavy equipment.
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Overtime may be required depending on production and shipping needs.
