JOB TITLE: Paramedic
DEPARTMENT: Field Operations
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Field Supervisor or Paramedic Coordinator the Paramedic at AmbuServe Ambulance is responsible for assessing patient conditions, delivering appropriate medical treatment, and maintaining accurate documentation. The Paramedic will also be tasked with safe transportation of patients and maintaining the ambulance in a sanitary condition.
Responsibilities:
- Provide appropriate patient care as stipulated in their training as a Paramedic.
- Provide safe transportation, accurately discerning street names and addresses in the most expedient manner.
- Appropriately assess a patient and accurately convey the condition to other medical professionals.
- Provide an accurate written report describing a patient's condition, medical history, and the treatment provided.
- Provide appropriate documentation for billing information.
- Maintain the vehicle in sanitary condition, monitoring all fluid levels and gauges.
Qualifications:
· Paramedic License- Must be California not National
- 2 years recent/concurrent as a Paramedic
· CPR Certification
· Driver’s License
· CA Ambulance License and good driving record
· DL51 Medical Examiner Full Report
· K4 Driving Record
· ACLS/PALS
Pass a pre-employment interview including a physical and lifting examination, drug screen, and background check.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend company provided training and driving course as needed.
- Ability to provide medical care at the Paramedic level while safely transporting patients.
- Attend company provided training and driving course as needed.
- Must be able to perform skills assessment as needed per the Paramedic Coordinator
- Maintains personal knowledge and skills in order to deliver optimum patient care as a Paramedic role model for other Emergency Service personnel
- Documents all patient care, assessments, and all service reports in a timely fashion
- Documentation shall be legible and accurate
- Supports in maintaining crew vehicles, radios, equipment, medical supplies (drugs) and crew quarters in a state of readiness twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
- Shall be punctual and ready for your shift.
- Shall actively participate in Company QA/QI programs.
- Provides for ongoing personal growth in BLS/ACLS and emergency care through education and maintenance of state requirements for EMT-P certification,ACLS/PALS, BLS, and any other required certifications requested by the Company
- Maintains functional awareness of all Los Angeles County EMS guidelines/protocols
- Maintains professional appearance of the approved uniform and maintains hygienic and grooming standards
- Considerable lifting and moving of heavy patients is required
- Develop a plan for maintaining own professional growth and development Respect for dignity, welfare, basic rights of all patients and employees
- Maintain a high level of competency within the scope of practice.
- Be a team player
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of local geography, which includes maps, streets and grid book systems
- Must successfully pass the Paramedic orientation program sponsored by the Company and approved by the EMS Agency
- Be familiar with EMT-P California Regulations and Los Angeles County Policies.
- Must maintain all certifications and licenses
- Represent AmbuServe while on duty at public service functions, expositions, and other public events
- Provide ambulance stand-by services at sporting events or any other activities designated by the Field Supervisor and/or Paramedic Coordinator

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position requires good physical stamina, endurance and body condition. The employee is regularly required to frequently walk, stand, lift, carry and balance at times, in excess of 100 pounds. The oxygen cylinders can be made of quarter-inch steel and weigh up to 113 pounds. The medical equipment boxes can weigh approximately fifty (50) pounds or more. The Paramedic may also need to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and the ability to withstand varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold and moisture.
