Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Attendant to provide essential support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs in a community or residential setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient-centered care, demonstrating excellent communication skills, patience, and reliability. As a Personal Care Attendant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Monitor patients' health status through vital signs measurement, patient observation, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
Support medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning and preparation tailored to individual dietary needs.
Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility assistance.
Maintain cleanliness of residents' living areas and common spaces, including light cleaning duties to promote hygiene and safety.
Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments or community outings using appropriate safety procedures.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement personalized care plans for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or other developmental disabilities.
Participate in training on hospice care, geriatrics, and neurodevelopmental disorders to enhance caregiving skills.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols including first aid procedures and CPR certification requirements.

Skills

Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments.
Extensive knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
Strong caregiving skills with experience supporting individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or intellectual disabilities.
Ability to assist with ADLs using proper manual handling and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
Competence in meal preparation, personal transportation assistance, and light cleaning duties.
Knowledge of care plans development and implementation tailored to individual needs.
Certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional training in hospice care or geriatrics is advantageous.
Ability to handle heavy lifting safely while maintaining patience and professionalism in demanding situations.
