Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Perioperative Registered Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures within a fast-paced, state-of-the-art operating room environment. Your expertise will ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes through precise assessment, meticulous aseptic technique, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

This is an outpatient ophthalmology and cosmetic surgery clinic - the RN is expected to be extremely proficient in both perioperative/intraoperative management of vitals/medications, but also in terms of postoperative counseling and reassurance to the patient and/or their family.

Duties

Prepare patients for surgery by conducting thorough assessments, reviewing medical histories, and ensuring all preoperative protocols are followed.
Assist with sterile setup of the operating room, including equipment preparation and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.
Monitor patient vital signs continuously during surgery using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems ; respond swiftly to any changes in patient condition.
Administer medications including IV infusions, sedation, and pain management strategies such as acute pain management techniques or Botulinum toxin treatments when applicable.
Support surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, managing catheters (including catheterization), and ensuring sterile field integrity.
Document all nursing interventions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and NCQA standards.
Provide post-operative care including patient assessment upon recovery from anesthesia, managing airway and ventilator support if needed, and coordinating discharge planning or transfer to appropriate care settings such as ICU or long-term care facilities.

Qualifications

Valid RN license with current registration; experience in perioperative nursing strongly preferred.
Proven expertise in aseptic technique, IV insertion/infusion, and airway management within an OR setting.
Critical care experience including ICU or Level I trauma center exposure is highly desirable.
Knowledge of specialty areas like ophthalmology, plastic/reconstructive surgery, ENT, dermatology, etc all helpful
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, surgeons, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly while maintaining attention to detail;

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
