Jones Advisors HR Consulting is actively searching for a dynamic Bookkeeper on behalf of our client, J&D Sprinkler Co., Inc. This is a full-time, in-person role in Clayton, NC.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team on-site in Clayton, NC. Whether you are a seasoned construction accounting pro or a highly motivated individual with strong foundational bookkeeping skills ready to learn our industry, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
In this role, you will be the financial anchor of our daily operations, ensuring our project costs are accurate and our records are pristine.
- Master the Ledger: Maintain highly accurate financial records, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
- Manage Invoices & Payments: Process and track vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and customer billings.
- Keep Score on Projects: Manage job costing by tracking labor, materials, overhead, and expenses for individual projects.
- Reconcile & Report: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and generate key financial reports (P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements).
- Invoice & Follow-Up: Prepare and distribute customer invoices and proactively follow up on outstanding payments.
- Support Payroll & Compliance: Support payroll processing (including certified payroll when required) and assist with sales tax, use tax, and 1099 preparation.
- Collaborate: Keep both digital and physical records perfectly organized, maintain audit documentation, and coordinate directly with our external CPA or tax preparer.
What You Bring to the Table (Qualifications)
- Solid Foundation: Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in accounting software (we use Computer Ease and will provide complete training on the system).
- Financial Know-How: A strong understanding of job costing, project-based accounting, payroll processing, sales tax, and 1099 requirements.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational habits, great communication skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
Extra Credit (Preferred, but not required):
- Experience in construction, subcontractor, or trade-specific accounting.
- Familiarity with certified payroll and prevailing wage projects.
- Experience handling lien waivers, W-9 collection, and compliance documentation.
