Position: Senior Electrical Project Manager
Industry Focus: Commercial / Industrial / Mission Critical Electrical Construction

Position Overview

The JPI Group is seeking a highly autonomous Senior Electrical Project Manager to lead multiple complex electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is not a utility- or facilities-focused role; the ideal candidate will come from an electrical contracting or construction environment and bring strong operational, financial, and contractual ownership experience. The company’s work is concentrated in mission-critical and data center environments, and success in this role requires the ability to manage larger, technically complex jobs while working effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.

Team structure and fit:

· The team works collaboratively rather than assigning one person to run a project independently, with a strong emphasis on shared knowledge and support.

· This role reports to Irene and includes mentoring remote team members in Columbia and St. Louis.

· The ideal candidate brings a proactive, team-first mindset, strong receptiveness to feedback, and experience in new construction and industrial environments.

· Experience with site infrastructure and power systems is preferred, while utility backgrounds are not a fit for this position.

· Local candidates are strongly preferred, ideally with familiarity with Chicago code. Remote work may be considered for an exceptional candidate, but it is not the preferred arrangement.

· Strong market knowledge, customer awareness, general Excel proficiency, and roughly 8–10 years of experience with estimating software such as Accubid are important.

Core Responsibilities

Manage 8–10 concurrent electrical construction projects
Oversee projects which can range from $3M to $15M in value
Lead project lifecycle from:
Preconstruction
Procurement/buyout
Execution
Scheduling
Change management
Closeout
Independently manage:
Change order pricing
Delay recognition/documentation
Client communication
Contract notices/letters
Schedule development and updates in MS Project
Conduct:
Productivity tracking
Labor forecasting
Estimate vs. actual analysis
Quantity tracking tied to financial performance
Support:
Team development
Performance evaluations
Company culture initiatives
Mentorship of junior staff

Leadership & Team Structure

Will manage approximately 4 direct reports (in some remote areas: Columbia and St. Louis)
Expected to mentor and develop:
Assistant PMs
Coordinators
Junior PMs
