Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Director of Auxiliary Programs is responsible for the leadership, management, and continued growth of Charlotte Preparatory School’s auxiliary programming, including After School, Studios, full-care days, evening and special event childcare, and Summer Camp. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer this role ensures auxiliary programs are safe, well-organized, mission-aligned, financially responsible, responsive to families, and supportive of the School’s enrollment, retention, reputation, and net revenue goals.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position.

The employee will maintain a healthy learning environment that supports the Charlotte Preparatory School mission statement and upholds the four pillars of leadership: Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, and Courage. Requirements

GENERAL DUTIES

Program Leadership

Lead the planning, organization, and daily operations of Charlotte Prep’s Auxiliary Programs, including After School, Studios, full-care days, evening and special event childcare, and Summer Camp.
Develop high-quality, mission-aligned programs that are safe, engaging, well-organized, and responsive to the needs of students and families.
Create and manage program calendars, schedules, staffing plans, registration timelines, and operating procedures.

After School, Studios, and Summer Camp

Plan and manage After School, Studios, and Summer Camp programming from registration through daily execution.
Develop age-appropriate offerings that reflect student interests, family needs, and the mission of Charlotte Prep.
Coordinate internal and external instructors, vendors, and community partners to strengthen program offerings.

Staff Leadership

Recruit, hire, onboard, schedule, supervise, and evaluate auxiliary program staff.
Set clear expectations for staff roles, responsibilities, communication, safety, and professionalism.
Provide coaching and support to ensure strong program quality and a positive student experience.

Family Experience, Safety & Communication

Serve as the primary point of contact for families participating in Auxiliary Programs.
Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding program offerings, registration, schedules, expectations, and student needs.
Ensure programs operate with strong student supervision, attendance procedures, dismissal protocols, and emergency preparedness.

Budget, Growth & Program Visibility

Work with the Chief Financial Officer to develop and manage auxiliary program budgets, pricing, expenses, and revenue goals.
Monitor participation, staffing, expenses, family feedback, and program performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
Work with the Director of Communications to promote programs and develop ideas that strengthen program quality, participation, family satisfaction, and the School’s reputation.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required.
Prior experience leading school-based, camp, Studios, childcare, recreation, or youth programming required.
Experience working with PK-8 students and families is strongly preferred.
Prior experience hiring, supervising, training, and evaluating staff preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage program logistics, staffing, schedules, registration, budgets, and family communication.
Strong understanding of student supervision, safety procedures, behavior management, and age-appropriate programming.
Comfort using technology systems for registration, communication, data tracking, scheduling, and reporting.
Ability to work flexible hours on occasion, including select evenings, full-care days, special events, and summer program periods.
