Start Date: ASAP
Remote (US, not open to West Coast applicants · Eastern Time business hours) · W-2, base plus uncapped commission · $100,000 to $120,000 OTE
The role in one sentence: You open new builder and flooring-company accounts nationwide for a hardwood product that has never had a sales engine behind it, and you build the book from zero.
Who this role is for
Cape Cod Air Grilles has a product builders love and no sales engine behind it. You build it, on a $48,000 to $60,000 base plus uncapped commission.
This is not a seat for everyone. You get a manager who trains you and shows you how to open a cold builder account. What you do not get is twenty names handed to you on Monday. The coaching is real. The prospecting is yours. Most orders run around $2,000, so you win on volume and repeat business, not one heroic deal a quarter. If that pulls at you instead of scaring you off, keep reading.
The company
Cape Cod Air Grilles is a family shop that hand-makes custom hardwood air vents. Builders and flooring companies on $500,000 to $1,000,000 homes choose them because a hardwood vent disappears into the floor instead of sitting on it like a metal rectangle. Almost nobody has seen it, because no rep has ever had the single job of putting it in front of builders. That bottleneck is the job.
What you will do
- Cold outreach to builders, flooring companies, and distributors: Phone-first, all day, nationwide
- Discovery calls with new accounts: Find the projects, the wood they use, and who specs the vents
- Quotes and follow-up: Nothing sits in the pipeline unworked
- Turn first orders into repeat accounts: Repeat revenue is how this territory compounds
- Salesforce hygiene: Logged same day, every day
You are opening 3 to 5 new accounts a month. That is the bar, and the whole comp plan is built on it.
How this role pays you
- Base: $48,000 to $60,000, paid as W-2
- Commission: Uncapped, paid on cash collected, not on signed orders
- Typical order: Around $2,000 for builder and homeowner orders
- Bulk order: $10,000 to $20,000 when a flooring company stocks up
- Year one OTE: $100,000 to $120,000
Here is the honest math. Landing in that OTE range takes $40,000 to $60,000 a month in collected revenue: two bulk flooring orders plus ten to fifteen smaller ones. It is real for someone who can open accounts, and out of reach for someone waiting on inbound. The first ninety days are lean while you build the list. Nobody will pretend otherwise.
Who thrives here
You have three or more years in sales, at least two in remote B2B where you did the prospecting, not worked handed leads. You can tell me how you open a cold account, not just that you are good with people. You take a correction on Tuesday and sound different on Wednesday. You do not need to know vents, flooring, or HVAC; we teach the product in a week. What we cannot teach is the willingness to make that first cold call.
Who you are NOT
- You want a plan handed to you on day one and have never built a book from nothing
- You measure your work in dials but cannot say how many became conversations
- You have been in one company's system so long that starting at zero feels like a step backward
- You explain why your way is better when someone corrects you mid-call
- You need a $300,000 deal for the work to feel worth doing
- You are based on the West Coast, or otherwise cannot reliably work Eastern Time business hours from where you live
