Full Job Description

Primary areas of expertise include highway, road building, and underground utilities. With a relentless commitment to quality and safety, M&M Excavating takes pride in the legacy left on each project. As the Company continues to experience steady growth, it is seeking multiple Survey Technicians with a strong work ethic who can perform quality control by checking plans through GNSS and Total Station technology as it applies to grading and utility installation operations. This position has very strong potential for future growth within the company.

Responsibilities:

SAFETY: Safety is out top priority at M&M Excavating. The wear of all PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) is a requirement while on a jobsite. Don’t just look out for yourself, look out for your buddies.

Professionalism. Represent the company with a professional and positive attitude.

Mobility. Travel within Michigan. Flexible schedules and limited outside engagements are helpful.

Collaboration. Work with team members and superiors to determine the best solution for the project.

Data Acquisition. Conduct field data acquisition and operate equipment such as GNSS, Total Station, Leveling equipment and other data acquisition equipment to meet project requirements.

Problem-solving. Solve real-time problems, both technical and mechanical

Training. Maintain the appropriate certifications and qualifications necessary for the operations performed by the company.

Responsibility. Custodian the equipment owned or operated by the company by keeping it secure, safe, and treating it responsibly.

Flexibility. Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the team’s success.

Required:

Experience with remote field work and road construction (preferred)

Perform construction layout and quality control checks

Read and interpret construction/road layout plans (This will be taught but experience is preferred)

Adaptable to emerging technologies such as laser scanning and drones

Able to maintain all surveying equipment including data collectors, GPS surveying gear, Total Station gear, field surveying supplies, tools, etc (This will be taught)

Reliable transportation

Confidence with new technology

Familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc

Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals (This will be taught)

Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs (This will be taught)

Familiarity with simple geometry equations such as Pythagorean Theorem and SOH CAH TOA (This will be taught)

Ability to problem solve and perform on-site technical analysis if problems arise from the plans (This will be taught)

Ability to walk great distances, lift heavy objects, and work in all weather conditions

Understands proper checklist, manual, and SOP use and integration (This will be taught)

Organizational skills and attention to detail

High school diploma or GED required (Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred)

Successful completion of a background check

Successful completion of a urine analysis.
