Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
ENGINEER I
1. Education (Minimal Education Needed)
Bachelor (B.S.) or Masters (M.S.) in chemical/mechanical engineering.
2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
Solid chemical or mechanical engineering knowledge, i.e. heat transfer, thermodynamics, unit operations, RD/RV sizing, piping or equipment specifications, LOPA or PHA reviews, chemical process design, etc.
3. Position Objective
Responsible for RBMI corrosion research, corrosion control manual, inspection and maintenance audit, leakage or VOC escape cause/root cause analysis, PSM operation and process corrosion problem analysis and improvement, etc., corrosion related analysis and evaluation operations to prevent corrosion-related Leakage and accidents occur.
Major Areas of Accountability
1. Perform RBMI corrosion research work , including internal / external corrosion rate,
corrosion mechanism, environmental cracks and other damage mechanism (ODM)
evaluation and setting.
2. Develop and maintain a corrosion control manual (CCD). Perform damage mechanism assessment for inspection, maintenance and audit operations.
3. Review and audit of PSM operations and corrosion issues. Participate in the review and review of PSM operations and corrosion issues, such as management of change (MOC) , process hazard analysis (PHA) , accident investigation,etc.
4. Process corrosion problem analysis and improvement suggestions. Analyze and improve suggestions for corrosion/crack problems in the plant.
5. Provide direction to Operators on key parameters, plant operating instructions, preparation of equipment for Maintenance, process troubleshooting, operating plans, and safety issues; Work with engineers to ensure operating performance with established standards and assure compliance with such standards;
6. Work with Maintenance/Contractor for capital projects and assist in development of detailed scopes as needed for the areas;Manage reliability priorities to support maintenance excellence.
7. Conduct Team investigations for various plant incidents using root cause analysis approach, write investigation reports after Team has concluded investigation with appropriate corrective actions/recommendations, implement the execution of the recommendations, formal presentation of report to Safety Council Meeting from time to time.
