Full Job Description

Elgin area distributor is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Controller to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

The Controller will direct and oversee all accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, Payroll, General Ledger management, sales tax reporting and remittance, the preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements, and interfacing with the accounting firm to complete state and federal tax returns.

Primary Responsibilities

Establish and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard Company assets and ensure financial integrity
Lead and manage the monthly and annual financial close processes
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations, tax filings, and statutory reporting requirements
Direct cost accounting processes
Review General Ledger activity to ensure accurate classification, recording, and reporting of financial transactions
Oversee administration and financial reporting related to employee benefit programs, including health insurance and 401(k) plans
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to maintain a high-performing department

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation strongly preferred
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks
Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and financial/accounting software
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage personnel and cross-functional collaboration
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a structured, results-oriented environment

Pay: From $140,000.00 per year
