Full Job Description

UR Medicine is hiring a Front Office Coordinator (also known as an Outpatient Access Representative III) for our Orthopedic outpatient clinic in Canandaigua, NY. This is a senior front desk role — think lead medical receptionist with a mentorship component. The ideal candidate serves as the resource the team turns to for patient check-in questions, scheduling issues, and escalated customer service situations. A medical background is a plus, but candidates who have led a front desk or customer service team in any high-volume environment are strongly encouraged to apply.

What the role involves:

Leading front office operations including patient check-in, registration, and scheduling
Handling escalated patient interactions and serving as the team's first point of escalation
Mentoring front desk staff and supporting new hire training
Managing referral queues and provider support functions in the electronic health record system
Providing coverage support when department needs arise

The ideal candidate:

2+ years in a front desk, medical receptionist, patient check-in, or customer service role
Experience as a team lead, senior rep, or informal go-to resource for a team
Strong de-escalation and professional communication skills
High school diploma required; Epic or eRecord experience a plus
