Full Job Description

Kastner Hill Learning is a boutique tutoring company in Austin, TX, specializing in DSAT/ACT preparation and most high school-level academic subjects.

We seek qualified reading and writing instructors to work with small groups and individuals in preparation for the DSATs and ACTs. Reading and writing instructors may occasionally assist students in writing essays for class and college applications and studying for AP, GRE, and GMAT tests. We are interested in hiring someone with the drive and creativity to develop their own take on the course curriculum and provide an engaging environment for our students.

We schedule tutors based on shift availability. During the school year, the shifts are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. During the summer, the shifts are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Thursday. We seek candidates who can consistently be available for at least three full shifts, including at least one weekday shift, and can tutor for at least six months.

This is not a remote position. All sessions are held in person at our office in the Westlake Hills area of Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

Develop one’s take on the course curriculum
Determine each student’s particular needs and priorities
Provide students with an engaging environment
Stay up to date with changes in the tests
Communicate availability clearly with both students and management

Our Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Humanities major
At least one year of professional Test Prep teaching/tutoring experience

Our Required Qualifications:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a Humanities major
A strong intuition for the English language
The ability to pass both a digital SAT and paper ACT Reading and Writing diagnostics
Interpersonally gifted with the ability to relate to high school students
Must be able to work one weeknight shift per week
Can commit to working 10-20 hours per week
Must be able to reliably commute to the Kastner Hill office in Austin, TX
