Spectrum Services Group, Inc. is seeking experienced an highly skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our healthcare team as an Independent Contractor (1099) at Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The CRNA will be responsible for providing advanced anesthesia care to patients across diverse clinical settings, including surgical, emergency, and critical care environments. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology to ensure safe and effective anesthesia management. The ideal candidate will possess critical care experience and demonstrate a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough pre-anesthesia patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations
- Develop individualized anesthesia plans tailored to patient needs and surgical requirements
- Administer anesthesia medications and injections with precision, ensuring optimal pain management and patient safety
- Monitor patients continuously during procedures, adjusting anesthesia levels as necessary based on vital signs and physiological responses
- Manage airway control and airway management techniques to maintain airway patency throughout procedures
- Collaborate with surgical teams, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively
- Document all anesthesia-related activities accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NCQA standards, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Participate in post-operative patient monitoring and recovery processes to assess outcomes and address any complications
- Stay current with advancements in anesthesiology practices, pain management techniques, and relevant medical terminology
Duties
The CRNA will perform a broad range of responsibilities aimed at delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate anesthesia care. These include preparing anesthesia equipment and medications prior to procedures, managing complex airway situations in pediatric, geriatric, or critically ill patients, and providing pain management solutions tailored to individual needs. The role involves detailed medical documentation of all procedures performed, maintaining accurate records for legal compliance and quality assurance. Additionally, the CRNA will oversee patient monitoring during surgery or procedures involving sedation or anesthesia—tracking vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respiratory status. The position requires active participation in hospital protocols related to infection control and medication administration while supporting the multidisciplinary team in achieving optimal patient outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: graduate of an approved anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthetist Education Program Schools or its predecessors.
Degree: MSN or higher
Experience: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – minimum three years of experience as a licensed, board certified CRNA with continuous experience during the last (12) months. Have current experience (1 year or more in the past 3 years) providing epidural anesthesia (labor epidurals). Have experience in the delivery of and monitoring of all types of anesthesia utilized in the delivery of obstetrical and surgical anesthesia (general endotracheal, subarachnoid block and epidural, and IV regional techniques
Certifications: BLS, ACL, PALS, NRP required
License: Current license in good standing as a RN, and CRNA license
Security Clearance: Must have a clear background in order to pass the security clearance
Possess excellent written and oral communications skills. Effectively use correct grammar and spelling in all written communications.

SPECIFIC TASKS.
· Pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation
· Obtain appropriate health history.
· Conduct appropriate physical screening assessment.
· Recommend and/or request and evaluate pertinent diagnostic studies.
· Select, obtain, order, and administer pre-anesthetic medications.
· Document the pre-anesthetic evaluation and consultations.
· Obtain comprehensive informed consent for anesthesia and related procedure / services.
· Intra-operative Care
· Obtain, prepare, and use all equipment, monitors, supplies and drugs used for the administration of sedation or anesthesia (general and/or regional techniques).
· Select, obtain, order, and administer the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids and blood products necessary to manage the anesthetic.
· Performing all aspects of airway management, including fiber-optic intubation
· Perform and manage central neuraxial anesthetic techniques to include but not limited to subarachnoid, epidural, and caudal blocks.
· Shall have the ability to be trained to perform and manage peripheral regional anesthetic techniques to include but not limited to upper and lower extremity plexus blocks and/or individual nerve blocks, intravenous regional, airway blocks, and other regional techniques as indicated.
· Provide appropriate invasive and non-invasive monitoring modalities utilizing current standards and techniques.
· Recognize abnormal patient response during anesthesia, selecting and implementing corrective action and request consultation whenever necessary.
· Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia and instituting pharmacological or supportive treatment to insure patient stability during transfer.
· Consult with a physician/anesthesiologist of adverse reactions necessitating non-delegated medical decisions; take appropriate actions as directed or required.
Post-anesthesia Care
· Provide Post-anesthesia follow-up and evaluation of the patient's response to anesthesia and surgical experience, taking appropriate corrective action and request consultation when indicated.
· Initiate and administer respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation.
· Initiate and administer pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system.
· Initiate and administer acute pain management techniques.
· Discharge patients from a post-anesthesia care area.
· Conduct post-anesthesia follow-up and evaluation.
· Initiate, administer, and evaluate patient response to continuous regional analgesia, instituting pharmacological or supportive treatment to insure patient stability and adequate pain management - request consultation when necessary.
Clinical Support Functions
· Insert intravenous catheters to include central venous catheters via basilica vein, external jugular vein, internal jugular vein, subclavian vein, femoral vein or other recognized routes of administration.
· Insert intra-arterial catheters.
· Insert pulmonary artery catheters with supervision.
· Initiate and direct cardiopulmonary resuscitation and advanced cardiac life support as appropriate.
· Provide consultation, implementation, and management of respiratory and ventilator care.
Administrative
· Comply with all Hospital and Anesthesia Section Policies and Procedures.
· Maintain all records as required at MTF.
· Attend and participate in surgical services meetings, Anesthesia service meetings as requested by the Chief, Department of Anesthesiology or Chief, Nursing Anesthesia.
· Meetings are held during scheduled work hours.
· Comply with all safety procedures and practices associated with the facility and OSHA.
· Department quality improvement activities may be assigned by the Chief, Department of Anesthesiology, or Chief, Nursing Anesthesia. These activities may include, but are not limited to: Occurrence screening checklist, Patient care chart audits, and Special studies on quality of care within the Anesthesia Service.
· The anesthesia provider will remain in-house even if no epidurals are in place. As the in-house provider, the anesthesia provider will respond to all cardiac or respiratory arrests or any stat anesthesia calls provided that they are not actively engaged in the administration of an anesthetic.
3.0 WORK HOURS
CRNA duty hours shall consist of 24-hour shifts in accordance with a schedule to be provided by the Chief Nurse Anesthetist. CRNAs are authorized a paid 30-minute lunch break while on shift. Services shall be required on weekdays, weekends, federal and military training holidays. When CRNA’s work in Labor and Delivery, they are required to remain in-house during their scheduled shift (no out of house call). Anesthesia providers may not work more than 24 hours without an 8-hour rest period between shifts.
The CRNA may, on occasion, be required to work in the OR for 8 hours from 0700-1500 as part of their 24-hour Obstetric (OB)shift. These shifts will take place Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays.
In-processing hours may vary from that of the work center shifts/hours. In-processing will be scheduled based on classes, orientations, and appointments.
You will have the flexibility to schedule your own days and shifts.
