Job Description: Theater Projectionist / Stage Sound Technician

Schedule: Evenings, weekends, holidays, movie showings, and special events as needed
Position Summary
The Theater Projectionist / Stage Sound Technician is responsible for delivering a flawless cinematic and live-event experience for Giant Screen Theater patrons. This role supports film presentations, live events, facility rentals, and special programs by ensuring exceptional picture and sound quality. Occasional public speaking before audiences may be required.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, excellent judgment, organization, communication skills, and an appreciation for the mission of the Giant Screen Theater.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Projection & Presentation
- Operate digital cinema projection systems, including DCP, Blu-ray, and digital formats.
- Ingest digital media and manage files, including building playlists and schedules from DCPs and KDMs delivered on hard drives.
- Program and oversee automated playback systems for lighting, sound, trailers, and feature presentations.
- Monitor and maintain picture and sound quality throughout each show.
- Set up, calibrate, and align projection equipment, ensuring proper focus, framing, and color balance.
- Ensure high-quality presentation for films, live events, rentals, and special programs.
Audio / Stage Sound
- Set up, operate, and maintain audio equipment including microphones, speakers, cables, and mixing consoles.
- Conduct sound checks, manage microphone placement, and mix audio levels for clarity and balance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve audio issues during live performances and events.
Technical Support & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues such as equipment malfunctions or playback errors.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of projection, lighting, and sound equipment, including bulb replacement.
- Coordinate with technical support when advanced troubleshooting is required.
Theater Operations
- Assist with cleaning theaters between showings.
- Provide support to concessions and box office operations as needed.
- Support overall theater operations, which may include ushering or ticket-taking depending on staffing.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and venue regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment for staff and patrons.

Job Requirements
- Projection and/or stage audio experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency with both PC and Mac operating systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including while climbing stairs
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to distinguish colors and variations in brightness
- Ability to detect differences in sound pitch and volume
- Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
