Mechanical Engineer
Advanced Machine Technologies, Inc. (AMT)

Advanced Machine Technologies, Inc. is providing a unique opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and implementation of custom automated equipment and control systems. This position will be a key role with our company. AMT is an established OEM specializing in industrial automation and equipment, with over 26 years of experience delivering engineered solutions across multiple industries.

Our headquarters is located in Dalton, Georgia which offers an excellent quality of life with a favorable cost of living and many opportunities for outdoor recreation while providing convenient access to Chattanooga, TN and Atlanta, GA.

Position Summary

This position will be will be involved in the start to finish engineering lifecycle of automated equipment, including mechanical system design, controls integration, validation testing, and field commissioning. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong technical competency, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to collaborate and execute within a team environment. Ample opportunity to learn and grow while working alongside a multidisciplinary team of professionals with broad engineering experience.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Minimum
2+ years of experience
in engineering design
Proficiency with 3D CAD platforms (Inventor or equivalent), 2D CAD and Microsoft Office Suite
Working knowledge or willingness to learn PLC programming, HMI development, and motion/servo control systems
Experience with process piping design, mechanical assemblies, and machine integration
Familiarity with engineering standards, document control, and revision management systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis capabilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills with project coordination experience
Experience in industrial manufacturing, OEM equipment design, or construction environments is a plus
EIT certification or interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
Must be self-motivated and eager to learn in a growing and fast-paced multidisciplinary engineering environment.Key Responsibilities
Develop mechanical system designs using 3D CAD modeling (assemblies, subassemblies, and detailed component drawings)
Design and support electrical control systems, including panel layouts, schematics, and I/O integration
Integrate automation hardware and software, including PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, and servo drives
Perform system validation, Factory Acceptance Testing, and commissioning at customer sites
Troubleshoot and resolve electromechanical and controls-related issues in both development and production environments
Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, drawings, revision control, and technical files
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, fabrication, and project management)
Provide field support, including installation oversight and system startup (travel required)
