Position Summary
Fountain of Faith Missionary Baptist Church seeks a qualified, spiritually grounded Worship Leader, Praise Team Leader, Youth Choir Director, and Music Ministry Support Contractor to provide leadership, coordination, and development support for the Church’s worship and music ministries.
This position is responsible for leading praise and worship, directing the youth choir, supporting youth and Christians in Action ministry worship activities, coordinating rehearsals, developing singers and worship participants, and assisting with the overall growth and sustainability of the Church’s music ministry.
The individual serving in this role must be dependable, prepared, professional, spiritually sensitive, and committed to supporting worship services and ministry activities with excellence consistent with the Church’s mission, doctrine, worship practices, and leadership direction.
Primary ResponsibilitiesWorship Leadership and Praise Team Support
· Lead and coordinate praise and worship for regularly scheduled Sunday worship services and approved Church events.
· Develop weekly praise and worship plans in coordination with the Senior Pastor and Minister of Music.
· Select, arrange, and teach songs that are theologically sound, musically appropriate, and consistent with the Church’s worship identity.
· Lead rehearsals with the praise team, choir, musicians, vocalists, and, when appropriate, sound and media personnel.
· Promote a worship culture centered on Jesus Christ and the Church’s expectation of “Kingdom Quality.”
· Mentor, recruit, and develop youth singers, young adult worship participants, praise team members, and others interested in serving in music ministry.
· Collaborate with the sound and media team, in coordination with the Minister of Music, to support effective worship service execution.
· Support compliance with copyright, licensing, and music use requirements.
Youth Choir Direction and Development
· Lead, teach, develop, and oversee the Church’s youth choir and youth music ministry.
· Prepare the youth choir for worship services, youth ministry programs, Christians in Action activities, and approved Church events.
· Develop and implement a plan for youth choir recruitment, growth, retention, and long-term sustainability.
· Conduct regular rehearsals and teach vocal techniques, musical skills, and performance preparation.
· Select songs and musical arrangements appropriate for the age, ability, interests, and spiritual development of youth participants.
· Identify, mentor, and develop youth and young adult participants with potential for worship leadership, vocal ministry, instrumental ministry, or other music-related ministry roles.
· Provide positive leadership, spiritual encouragement, and a Christ-centered environment that promotes discipleship, participation, growth, and ministry excellence.
· Communicate effectively with youth choir members, parents or guardians, ministry leaders, and Church leadership regarding rehearsals, schedules, expectations, and performances.
· Maintain reasonable attendance records and assist with administrative coordination related to youth choir rehearsals, performances, and ministry activities.
Administrative and Ministry Coordination
· Coordinate with the Minister of Music, Senior Pastor, youth ministry leadership, musicians, choir members, praise team members, and other designated Church personnel.
· Support planning for special services, concerts, worship presentations, youth ministry events, and other Church-approved ministry programs.
· Maintain professionalism, reliability, preparation, and appropriate conduct for all assigned services, rehearsals, and ministry activities.
· Use Church property, equipment, music resources, and ministry materials responsibly.
· Return all Church property upon request or termination.
· Support the growth, development, and sustainability of the praise team, youth choir, and broader music ministry through recruitment, training, mentorship, rehearsal planning, and leadership development.
Schedule and Availability
· Provide services for all regularly scheduled Sunday worship services assigned by the Church and for rehearsals and ministry activities reasonably necessary to prepare for those services.
· Provide services for two or more worship services on the same Sunday if the Church expands its Sunday worship schedule.
· Provide music services for Wednesday night bible study, evenings and weekend services (Such as revivals and prayer breakfast), and any other Pastoral speaking engagements, as requested by the Senior Pastor.
· Maintain reasonable availability for rehearsals, planning meetings, and ministry coordination sessions scheduled by authorized Church leadership.
· Support youth ministry events, youth choir activities, youth performances, youth worship services, and related ministry functions as part of regular duties and compensation.
· Provide musical leadership for funeral and memorial services as part of ministry support responsibilities.
· Wedding services are not included as part of regular duties or compensation and may be arranged separately, subject to availability and written agreement.
Authority and Limitations
The Contractor may coordinate rehearsals, recommend music selections, recruit volunteers, organize ministry participation, and manage the day-to-day operation of assigned music ministry tasks and activities.
The Contractor does not have authority to establish Church policy, remove ministry participants from service, commit Church funds, enter into contracts, schedule major ministry events, or make significant ministry changes without approval from the Minister of Music, Senior Pastor, Board of Directors, or other authorized Church leadership.

Educational Requirements, Experience, Skills, Technology, and Additional RequirementsEducational Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Bachelor’s degree in Music, Church Music, Worship Leadership, Music Education, Christian Education, Theology, Youth Ministry, or a related field preferred.
· Formal training in vocal performance, choral direction, worship leadership, music theory, piano/keyboard, youth music ministry, or church music preferred.
· Training in youth ministry, child protection, mentoring, or Christian discipleship preferred.
· Equivalent combination of education, training, and demonstrated worship ministry or youth choir leadership experience may be accepted at the discretion of the Senior Pastor, Minister of Music, and Board of Directors.
Required Experience
· Minimum of three to five years of experience leading praise and worship, directing choirs, supporting youth music ministry, or serving in a church music leadership role.
· Demonstrated experience leading praise and worship in a church setting.
· Experience directing, teaching, developing, and preparing youth choir members for worship services, youth ministry events, Christians in Action activities, and approved Church programs.
· Experience planning and leading rehearsals with praise teams, choirs, musicians, vocalists, youth singers, and worship participants.
· Experience selecting, arranging, and teaching songs that are theologically sound, musically appropriate, and consistent with the Church’s worship identity.
· Experience recruiting, mentoring, training, and developing youth singers, young adult worship participants, praise team members, musicians, and volunteers.
· Experience communicating with youth participants, parents or guardians, ministry leaders, musicians, Church staff, and Church leadership.
· Experience supporting worship services, funerals, memorial services, youth worship activities, special services, concerts, and other Church-approved ministry programs.
· Experience working within an established leadership structure and receiving direction from the Minister of Music, Senior Pastor, Board of Directors, and authorized Church leadership.

Technology Requirements
· Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or comparable software.
· Ability to use email, shared calendars, scheduling tools, and electronic communication platforms for worship planning, youth choir coordination, parent communication, and ministry scheduling.
· Familiarity with worship-planning software or willingness to learn systems such as Planning Center, ProPresenter, SongSelect, CCLI tools, or similar platforms.
· Ability to coordinate with the sound and media team regarding lyrics, worship slides, service flow, rehearsal needs, microphones, livestream timing, and worship presentation.
· Working knowledge of basic sound, microphone, monitor, and worship technology preferred.
· Ability to maintain and organize digital music files, lyric sheets, chord charts, lead sheets, rehearsal tracks, youth choir schedules, service plans, and worship ministry materials.
· Understanding of copyright, licensing, and lawful music use requirements, including CCLI or other church music licensing practices.
· Ability to protect confidential digital information, passwords, Church records, youth information, parent contact information, and ministry communications.
Additional Requirements
· Must maintain reasonable availability for all assigned Sunday worship services, rehearsals, planning meetings, ministry coordination sessions, youth choir activities, youth worship services, funerals, memorial services, and other Church-approved ministry events.
· Must provide services for two or more worship services on the same Sunday if the Church expands its Sunday worship schedule.
· Must support youth ministry events, youth choir activities, youth performances, Christians in Action activities, and related ministry functions as part of regular duties and compensation.
· Must comply with all Church policies, including child protection, facility use, confidentiality, music ministry procedures, copyright compliance, safety, and conduct requirements.
· Must maintain appropriate conduct, professional boundaries, and child-safety awareness when working with youth and minors.
· Must successfully complete any background check, child-safety screening, reference verification, or training required by Church policy for individuals serving with youth.
· Must not independently establish Church policy, remove ministry participants from service, commit Church funds, enter contracts, schedule major ministry events, or make significant ministry changes without proper approval.
· Must use Church property, equipment, music resources, digital materials, and ministry supplies responsibly and return all Church property upon request or termination.
· Must maintain professional, respectful, and unified communication with Church leadership, musicians, youth, parents, guardians, volunteers, staff, and members.
· Must avoid conduct that undermines Church leadership, disrupts ministry operations, violates child-safety expectations, or conflicts with the mission and values of Fountain of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
Performance Standards
The Contractor is expected to perform all services with professionalism, dependability, preparation, spiritual sensitivity, and respect for the Church’s mission, doctrine, worship practices, leadership structure, and values.
The Contractor must comply with all applicable Church policies, including policies related to child protection, facility use, confidentiality, music ministry procedures, copyright compliance, safety, and conduct.
The Contractor must actively support the growth and sustainability of the Church’s praise team, youth choir, and music ministry through consistent recruitment, training, mentorship, rehearsal planning, and leadership development.
Compensation and Classification
The annual compensation for this combined role is $50,000 - $60,000, paid according to the Church’s regular payment schedule unless otherwise approved in writing by the Church. The annual compensation is based on the Contractor working 52 weeks per year. Compensation will be adjusted based on Contractor’s availability to meet the 52-week work schedule requirement.
Reasonable and necessary pre-approved expenses may be reimbursed when proper receipts and documentation are submitted according to Church procedures.
This position is classified as an independent contractor role and does not include employee benefits unless expressly stated in writing. As an independent contractor the individual can recommend a suitable substitute to the Senior Pastor and Minister of Music in the event, they are not available for service during the week; however, the worship leader is not permitted to enter into a verbal/written agreement with the possible replacement.
Confidentiality
The Contractor shall maintain the confidentiality of non-public, sensitive, pastoral, financial, personnel, membership, youth-related, or ministry information obtained during service to the Church. This responsibility continues after the conclusion of service.
Work Environment
This role requires regular interaction with church members, youth participants, parents, ministry leaders, musicians, staff, and volunteers. The position requires participation in worship services, rehearsals, planning sessions, youth ministry activities, funerals, memorial services, and other approved Church ministry activities.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
