Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
SEGMENT:
· Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or closely related discipline
· Significant experience in shipbuilding, boatbuilding, naval architecture, shipyard engineering, marine systems integration, or maritime platform development
· Working knowledge of maritime standards, rules, and regulatory frameworks relevant to vessel design and modification
· Demonstrated experience integrating equipment, structures, mission systems, or other technical solutions onto maritime platforms. Experience with aluminum, steel, and composite marine structures.
· Strong understanding of maritime design and integration principles, including platform arrangements, structural interfaces, installation sequencing, and lifecycle support considerations.
· Familiarity with naval, patrol, expeditionary, special operations, law enforcement, or high-speed craft applications.
· Familiarity with shock, vibration, corrosion, and harsh-environment design considerations for maritime systems.
INDUSTRY:
· Ballistic design knowledge, including experience with survivability, vulnerability reduction, ballistic protection, blast effects, fragment/spall mitigation, or military platform protection.
COMMERCIAL:
· Experience supporting/coordinating government programs.
· Sales/business development experience (product quoting, costing and program management) preferred.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to turn analytic insights into executable actions.
· Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
· Independent work style and self-motivated GENERAL:
· Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools and familiarity with MS Project or scheduling software
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Frequent overnight, out-of-town travel required.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Reports directly to SVP, Commercial – Americas Maritime Segment
A key member of the ICI USA Sales and Operations Team (S&OP) working as part of leadership supporting and executing a go-to-market maritime segment strategy and bringing a high degree of engineering/ballistic design skills alongside a background in maritime engineering.
Type of business and role in the ICI organization: In our organizational structure, a Maritime Technical Director would be responsible for:
1. Engaging with industry stakeholders (prime ship and boat builders) to understand their issues, current threat levels they are facing and deliver ballistic designs and solutions. Establish relationships within this segment and seek partnership opportunities to become their primary source of ballistic designs and solutions.
2. Growing ICI brand awareness and credibility within the Americas maritime engineering and design community (US Navy, Coast Guard, Law Enforcement, etc.) by building business relationships through a high visibility profile and expertise in the ballistic design options and applicability within the segment.
3. Evaluating the after-market ballistic armor opportunities and assist in the development of a business plan for this sub-segment.
4. Seeking opportunities to add innovative designs to the ICI portfolio, either in product development or integration models.
Assist and support other ICI segments (Land, Air, Personal Protection) as needed.
JOB OBJECTIVE
· Work closely with the Maritime team to exceed sales & gross margin targets and deliver year on year growth.
· Become proficient at ballistic designs and solutions.
· Orchestrate commercial opportunities with customers by providing profitable options to our clients.
· Identify and communicate internally any opportunities within all ICI segments with sensitivity to new innovative approaches and concepts for next-generation growth.
· Liaise internally with manufacturing, operations and engineering to gain accurate costing and manufacturing lead times for inclusion into program management options.
· Actively engage with the ICI USA S&OP team, to prioritize new product developments, bring business cases and market analysis to support and provide R&D opportunities, and serve as an ambassador within the stage gate decision making process.
· Maintain a high level of confidentiality that may stem from meetings with executives from group and non-ICI constituents.
Participating in contract reviews and Purchase Order reviews, with the common objective of ensuring that sales contracts brought to ICI are complete, executable, and without ambiguity.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Serve as the technical lead for maritime protection solutions from early customer engagement and concept development through design, installation, test, and field support.
2. Lead integration of protective solutions onto new-build and in-service maritime platforms, accounting for vessel structure, arrangements, access, maintainability, producibility, and installation constraints.
3. Work closely with internal design, manufacturing, and business development teams to turn threat requirements into practical maritime protection concepts.
4. Translate maritime platform requirements into technical solution sets that align with vessel mission, operating environment, and shipyard realities.
5. Interface directly with shipbuilders, boatbuilders, naval architects, program offices, prime contractors, and end users on technical scope, integration approach, and design.
6. Review and help develop installation concepts, mounting approaches, drawings, models, technical packages, and integration procedures for maritime applications.
Spearhead and coordinate program opportunities into designs, quotes and successful integrations.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Focus will be placed on the following KPIs:
· Speed of penetration into the USG/Military Design Community (NAVSEA, Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, Naval Surface Warfare Centers, Naval Research Laboratory, Army PAEs, SOF, Coast Guard) – expectations are that you will identify, make contact and build a relationship with the key players in each area within one year.
· Speed of penetration into the Americas engineering and integration community of the major ship(Vigor, Huntington Ingalls, Birdon, Austal USA, BAE Systems, Bollinger Shipyards, Fincantieri Marine, Textron Marine, Eastern, Hanwha Philly, General Dynamics and affiliates including NASSCO, Bath Iron Works, etc.) and boat (SAFE Boats, Inventech, Zodiac, Silverback, Silver Ships, ReconCraft, Moose Boats, Willard Marine, Metal Shark, Metal Craft, Tideman, etc.) - expectations are that you will identify, make contact and build a relationship with the key players in each area within one year.
· Thorough understanding of the key factors involving ballistic protection in maritime applications – within one year.
· Successfully manage any/all maritime programs including involvement in any estimates, pricing, procurement and communication internally and externally (customer).
Customer Satisfaction will be an important KPI as we are looking to build our brand of excellent product quality and customer experience. Retention and expansion of existing relationships is a must.
