Grocery Clerk Job Description:
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To provide stocking support for the Grocery Department and contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
NATURE AND SCOPE: Primary emphasis in this position is on stocking and facing, straightening, load cutting, sorting and display building, in order to ensure maximum product availability and department sales. Primary learning challenge is product location and developing necessary production speed in cutting, sorting and stocking. This position requires ongoing walking, moderate to heavy lifting, operation of pallet jack, use of box cutter, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills and reading. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction are provided by the Grocery Manager or person in charge.

Perform aisle stocking, display building and maintenance

Pick up and compacts cardboard, stack pallets, clean up spills, store overstock, dispose of used razor blades in proper receptacles

Return misplaced items or merchandise to shelf (shop back)

Answer questions and/or assist customers with product location. Take customers directly to the item they are looking for
