Full Job Description

Silver Brothers is a grain-to-glass whiskey distillery and farm located on a historic 220-acre farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley. Our sole focus is to craft world-class whiskey representative of the unique terroir of our farm and surrounding area.

We are looking for a warm, knowledgeable, and hospitality-minded person to help staff our tasting room during weekend hours and guide guests through the Silver Brothers whiskey experience. The ideal candidate loves whiskey, enjoys working with people, and is excited to tell the story of how grain, oak, time, and place come together in each bottle.

This is a unique opportunity to join Silver Brothers at an early stage as we build our tasting room, our customer experience, and our brand.

Job Summary

The Tasting Room Associate / Whiskey Guide is responsible for creating an exceptional guest experience in the Silver Brothers tasting room. This role includes leading tastings, educating guests about our whiskey and production process, assisting with bottle and merchandise sales, supporting special events, and representing Silver Brothers with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm.

The ideal candidate has a background in hospitality, retail, restaurants, wine, beer, spirits, or other guest-facing roles. Formal whiskey knowledge is helpful, but genuine curiosity, good judgment, and a desire to learn are essential.

This is a public-facing role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make guests feel welcome, informed, and excited about Silver Brothers whiskey.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following:

Welcome guests to the tasting room and provide a warm, engaging, and professional hospitality experience
Guide guests through whiskey tastings, explaining each product’s character, production background, and place within the Silver Brothers story
Share the story of our whiskey distillery and farm, including our grain-to-glass approach, barrel aging, and connection to the Hudson Valley
Assist guests with bottle purchases, merchandise sales, and general product questions
Operate the POS system and handle transactions accurately and responsibly
Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting tasting room environment
Set up, break down, and restock the tasting room before, during, and after service
Support tours, private tastings, bottle release events, and other special events
Represent the distillery and brand with professionalism, hospitality, and enthusiasm
Monitor responsible alcohol service and ensure guests have a safe and positive experience
Communicate guest feedback, product questions, and operational needs to the broader team
Assist with light operational tasks as needed to support the smooth running of the tasting room

Required Experience

The ideal candidate has experience in hospitality, restaurants, bars, retail, wine, beer, spirits, tourism, or another guest-facing environment. Desired skills and experience include:

Strong hospitality background and comfort engaging with guests
Interest in whiskey, spirits, food, agriculture, craft production, or local products
Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of guests
Experience with tastings, tours, wine service, cocktail service, or retail sales is a plus
Comfort using POS systems and handling customer transactions
Ability to learn and communicate product information in an accurate and engaging way
Understanding of responsible alcohol service and guest safety
Weekend availability required; occasional evening availability for events preferred

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 40–50 pounds at times
Must be comfortable working weekends and occasional off-hours for special events
Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcohol

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
